i have extra dist. a 68 and a 70, they look the same. what parts are the same as 455, or is the whole assembly the same???
Abort, abort, abort mission. 350 and big block dists are comkpletely different on the curves, not even close to each other, and will not easily work well when not engine specifically used. Since in a points dist, the scroll plate is brazed or welded to the mainahsft, the curves aren't easily changed. Same said for the large cap HEI nightmares, no separate parts are available that are of good enough quality and proper timing (read curve kits), so changing the curves still isn't an easy deal to accomplish. The gear is NOT the only difference. Change the kit, dist will fit, but that ain't the only issue here, however, it is the minor one of the two.
How about the spark curves, could I take my already-worked-on 350 dist, change the drive gear, and put it in my new 455? James
It is all in the curvature of the plate that is brazed to the top of the shaft. Sifferent, curvatures, same weights, same springs, different curves. You can really make something to have loads of fun with, chasing the tail of with the wrong center plate.
I don't understand fully.. but that's OK! I'm not sure I need too, at this time. I get the jist though.
