Will this horrible storm have an affect on the PSMCDR car and spectator attendance???? Will the huge spike in gas prices keep any folks away?? Will it keep any of YOU away??? What do you think?? This reminds me of the 2001 event right after the 9-11-01 terrorist attacks. We still had folks there, but in a very somber mood. Are any of our P/S "regulars" affected personally by the hurricane???
don't worry about us we'll be there, might only have 1 car to bring,as mine is still in 42 different pieces [suprise] with some still not even located yet.there's almost nothing that could keep me away. :beer
Are you kidding? We're Diehards I'll be there, and we're bringing a few more spectators( cooks) with us. Oh yeah, bringing the charcoal grills too. The only thing that may be a little different this year is that we may have to ask people to BYOM (bring your own meat) I wonder how close Benoit Halloway was to the destruction? He is from that area?
JLerum told me he's from Marion, LA. Mapquest shows it at the north end of the state. Hopefully he was fine.
Stanton Bound Are you kidding? I already have countless hours and money into cars for a race where I win nothing! As long as the fuel is there the cost is still tolerable Race gas has been nearly $4.00 a gallon for years now! :Smarty:
You're kidding, right??? PureStockMuscleCarDragRace. September 16-17, 2005 Mid-Michigan Motorplex-Stanton ( actually McBride ), Michigan ~sidebar~ all the locals refer to the track as "McBride's". That's the little "town" just north of the track.
Actually Frank I wasn't kidding, I had no idea but wish it was closer to home cause I'd love to see something like that. Got out of high school in 66 and dragracing was always my favorite sport. You know it's interesting that I live near St Louis and it seems like nothing interesting like that ever happens around the midwest. Dave Berry
There's a green 72 SS 396 Chevelle that drives up from St.Louis area every year. Races it, repacks his stuff, turns the A/C back on and he and his friend drive home. Maybe they have room in the back seat for a stowaway? :Brow: Now that Rusty has bought a trailer and a dually, he has relinquished the long distance award (from Kansas City) back to the Chevelle from St. Louis.
I am still going to make the trip and I believe that Steve Hodges is going to make the trip. I talked with him after his runs in St. Louis yesterday at the Supercar event. This LS-6 vette is a little hotter than the yellow one. A couple of 12 secnd runs @ 110 mph! For what its worth, it looks like the price might have stabalized and went DOWN $.20 from yesterday. 87 octane= $2.99 in KC.
Dave, where were you Friday Sept 2nd ?? The 8th annual Supercar Reunion held the drag racing part of their two day event at Gateway in Collinsville Illinois (just across the river from St Louis). Had a bunch of hot Yenko Camaros, COPO Novas, COPO Chevelles, one F.A.S.T. racer, a 67 Shelby Mustang, twin turbo 64 Chevelle, Copo Pete (11.96!), Jimmy Johnsons' 11 sec. 69 L88 Vette and lots of others. Take a look at these pictures. GATEWAY Copo Pete and Jim Johnson are just two of the cars that were at Gateway that will be at Stanton in two weeks. You're gonna miss a really great event :ball: .
the clinton wisconsin people are planning o being there again.i'm going to try to bring my buick this year.look for the slow one of the bunch ed
Hi Dave! You bet we are going to be there! If gas stays up, it will cost us about $100 more for this years trip. If you wanna play ya gotta PAY! NBD By the way, that '72 Chevelle you are refering to is really a '70....always has been... See ya in a about 10 days. :3gears:
OOOPS. Guess i don't know my Chevvies. Looking forward to seeing you guys, again. That's quite a long string of attendance. How'd you hear about the first one? Don't forget to stop in at Edmore and admire the "Miss Potato" contestants in their potato festival while you're there. Another friend on the Olds forum said he stopped in Yale, Mi recently and they were judging the Miss Bologna contest. Too much.
How'd you hear about the first one? Dave, I saw the coverage of the first event in MCR. Mike and I participated in '96 and loved it!!!! I couldn't get vacation for '97, but we have been back every year since. If you include the June race at Stanton and one FAST/FS race in Martin I have logged about 11K miles just coming to these races. That puts the car up to a solid 180K. Started with 146K in '96. Now that is enjoying your muscle car! :3gears: Dave Red Bud, IL
I'm still planning on being there It's going to be tight as for being done. Still waiting on my pipes o No:. Got the brake system to go through and get the redlines ordered and ........ Being half sick all weekend didn't help any :spank:. May end up all show and no go. Lon
