will they fit?

    I was previously running a BFG drag radial....275 60 15

They need replacement, and I think Im going to put the same size, only in a "50" series, as I dont like the way the 60 raises the car.

The question is, will the wider tread on the 50's still fit with standard rallye rim backspacing?

(this is for a '70 GS.)

also...what is the largest 50 series that will fit?

    thanks!

    Bob,
The section width(sidewall to sidewall) will be the same(275 mm) even though the tread width is different(8.8 vs. 10.0) The tire height will be 2" shorter though(28" vs. 26"). If you go wider, you may need to use a rim wider than the stock Rallye(7"). I have seen some guys stretch a 295/50-15 on a stock wheel, but the recommended wheel width for that tire is 8.0-11"
