I what to put some bigger wheel and tires on my car. I have a set of pontiac rally wheels laying around that I don't use for anything. They are 15x7 and 15x9.2. I tested them on my car with 255/60 front and 295/50 rear. I did not get to test drive with that setup, becase the tires ate realy old and worn.
The car is a 71 skylark that is lowered with 1" hotchkis lowering springs.
Any one running a simular setup?
Do you guyes think the tires will rub?

Here are some pictures from the test.
PS. the wheels will be blasted and painted before use :)

The fronts are likely to rub under some conditions.

What would be the best size tires to use in the front?

When I had this setup on my 68 chevelle I had no rubbing in the front. But the rears rubbed in hard turns.

With factory 15" rims 245 60R 15 tires are the safe bet with a stock suspension in good condition. The max size front tire from the factory was G 60R 15. The closest in todays metric sized tires are the 245 R 60 15s. You have the complicating factor of a modified suspension which I would think further limits what you can use.

Gonna be more sidewall in front than in back also something I always avoid personally the 245 will work much better

Useing 245/60 and 295/50 will make them almost equal.
    245/60 are 67,5cm and 295/50 are 67,6cm.
I am still a bit worryed about the rears rubbing. I cant get 275/50 becase they don't sell them in Norway and they will be lower then the fronts. It will look strange. If I go with 275/60, they will be 71,1cm. Almost 4 cm taler then the fronts. Will that look strange?

What is the backspacing on the rims? That'll have a big impact on fitment on the car.

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

235/60/15s and 275/60/15s will give a nice stance. As stated though, check your Back Spacing.

5.5" backspacing on the rears and 4.5" backspacing on the fronts.

Any one know what size trim ring i should use on this wheels?
Yes I know i should use 15" :) , but I am wondering more about how deep they should be?
Where is the best place to buy trim rings?

I have 4.5" backspace on a 10.0 inch wide rim and it is just about perfectly centered. With your 9.25" wide rear rim a 4.15" backspace would be perfect, so just keep in mind that your rim and tire will be about 1.35" closer to the inside of the wheel well compared to if it were perfectly centered. It looks like you already have the tires on the rims so just ensure you have clearance before you clean and paint the rims.
