I have a small u-shaped strap that I think is supposed to connect the cowl and hood as a windshield antenna ground. I've never seen this on a car, so wondering how it installs or if someone has a pic of it installed. This is for my 71 GS. Thanks.
It's a new part in the package, and it was in a box full of miscellaneous stuff the former owner of my GS gave me when I bought the car. Here's a pic. What you see in the pic is all it says, that it's for 70-78 GM and grounds the windshield antenna to the hood.
Send it back. They were not used on Buicks or Olds for that matter at least on A bodies. I saw those for sale and always wondered what they were used for.
That's an Inline part. Ughh......I hate that they say stuff fits all years GS 442 SS GTO etc. Like those GM door decals near the latch, they say they fit all years. Well yeah...they WILL fit all years, it's a freakin' decal, it will fit on a FORD, too. But they were only used on 67-68, but you see them stuck on 72's or whatever because peeps think they should be there. TPP Y1 OPG...they are all the same, you have to know what your car really needs, they just want to make $. In some ways, they are contributing to incorrect restos...and I know the guy that owns Inline knows what's correct.
I'd like to send it back and get a $12.50 refund, but since I didn't buy it and don't know where it came from that might be a little difficult. But I did poke around the internet a little more and found what appears to be the exact same part on ebay advertised for 68-72 Cutlass. http://www.ebay.com/itm/68-69-70-71-72-442-cutlass-hood-to-cowl-ground-strap-1-/160462564597
Frank, Never sat never. My two 1970 W-30 convertibles I owned both came with the blue GM decals on the drivers doors. We are talking original cars and never re-painted I owned back in the 70's and 80's and they were never restored. go figure.
Wow Dave, that's weird! The ebay seller is Inline, too. The ground strap I've seen on Chevelles. Yeah...I guess you just never know. Hey Dave...I'm going to have to maybe tap you for info when I get my 70 GS455 vert, I should have it in a couple of weeks. Sorry to tap the thread.....
