So I had to replace my wiper motor and in doing so had to remove the wiper arms to remove the cowl. I've found that its really hard to find instructions or drawings of how to remove parts from older cars, so I am going to start drawing some removal instrustions from my own experience to try and help out the board members. I have already made a drawing for how to remove the window trim from my 66 Skylark and now here is one for removing the wiper arms.

To start with I would suggest putting masking tape around the base of the wiper post to protect the cowl paint. If you start with the passenger side wiper arm you can get a better view of the retainer clip and how it will come off. While holding the wiper arm up and away from the windshield, use a pick tool to pry the retainer clip away from the post. While prying the clip pull up on the wiper arm base and it will come right off.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

    Thanks.

tHERE IS A TOOL for this and it makes life much easier, otherwise you need to get a screwdriver under the part that bulges out to releas the clip. Not easy.
