I need a wiring diagram and instructions on how to set up the linkage when reinstalling. I took the old one out to be refurbished, assumed it was so easy to put back in that I didn't note exactly how the wires attach. I am also worried I will install the linkage incorrectly and cause the motor to bind or not hide below the hood. Help me someone, help me. Should I just buy a service manual or can someone be my service manual for me? Thanks alot gentlemen.
You should find the wire harness at the motor has specific connectors that will only fit one way. Makes it easy for guys like me.This is assuming you are installing the same style motor you took out. If you're changing form non-park to park or vice versa, there is an intermediate harness you need at the wiper switch. Non-park uses the intermediate harness, park wipers do not use it.
No I haven't sort this out yet. When I got the motor and pump back from the rebuilder, the pump was damaged during shipping. Sent it back to wiperworks and they fixed the pump no charge. My unit is a park unit, and he tried to explain to me over the phone how to put them back together, involving putting some sort of punch in a small hole. I am now afraid to try to put them back together on my own, and no closer to understanding the process. I don't have access to a wiring diagram for the motor or pump. Bottom line: I need "wipermotor and pump reinstallation for dummies" manual! I am afraid I'm going to screw my newly restored motor and pump up. Whatever help that's available I'll take.
I'm not sure if I can get over there today, but I have the 1970 Chassis manual over at my dad's place. I can photocopy the wiring diagrams and text for the depressed park wipers and mail them over to you, Robert, but it may take a day or two
All I'd want is an address to mail the photocopies to, and then you can tell us when you got the wipers going. That should cover it.:TU: Just PM me an address I can ship to.
I was able to correctly re-attach the wiper pump to the wiper motor and install the assembly to the firewall. I hooked up the wiring the way I thought it should go; guess what I was wrong. Changed the wiring around and the motor works fine. I haven't had the time to hook the wiper assembly to the wipermotor or try out the wiper washer pump but hope all goes well. Thanks for the help. Will advise (read beg for help) if I run into further problems.
Excellent news! I must confess that currently my wiper motor is jury rigged with spare wire left over from another job.
