I'm running a single 18ga wire from a sensor attached at the transmission cooling exit hose. That single wire is inside some Painless Powerbraid which claims to withstand 275*F. I want to run that wire over the top of the transmission, down to around the shifting lever and have it join into the powerbraid loom that has the reverse light switch wires and the kickdown wire. The end on the passenger side is a ring terminal and will hold that up just fine. So at long last, can I just let that single temp sensor wire inside the powerbraid wrap lay on the top of the transmission, before the other end is restrained. I'm not really concerned about friction and wear, just the transmission heat on that powerbraid. I guess I could use another larger powerbraid over the first just to add insulation. Once again, I'm overthinking, but what do you guys think?
Not for nothing, but there are lots of wires in very close proximity to the engine, that get a lot hotter than the transmission case. Just sayin.
Yeah. Maybe the case will hit 200 degrees ever in it's life, not to worry. Besides, the internal wires for kickdown and Switch Pitch stator solenoids are typically fine for 50+ years. "Non-use" and moisture in the cases cause more deterioration to the wires than the fluid and temps. So outside the case should fine.
