In 1968 I was a college student and a friend had worked at a high paying job in Anchorage after the earthquake(1964). Five of us decided to drive up to get rich. I drove my 1965 Gran Sport another drove a 1960 Chevrolet Bel Aire. We got to Anchorage and the economy had changed, only two found jobs. I was not one that did. On the was back, 300 miles out of Whitehorse, I was asleep and the guy driving my car lost it and wrecked. and I woke up in the Bel Aire going to the hospital in Whitehorse. I know that the car was towed to Whitehorse. The insurance company totaled the car. If there is someone in that area or anybody going up the Alaska highway this summer this car may be worth looking for. I don't remember seeing the car so I really don't know how bad it was damaged. I would not think they would crush any cars up there. Also the car would be easy to find as there would be not a lot of junkyards in the area. The car was a blue (I repainted it. White from the factory) 2 door hardtop with blue interior, buckets and a center console. It had an automatic. If anyone wants more info I could be contacted at schmidtsfarm@bellsouth.net Gary
And this was in 1968? I think first we better look for the haystack before we start looking for the needle.
I was in Whitehorse three weeks ago and didn't see any '65 GS. As a matter of fact didn't catch a glimpse of any haystacks or needles either!! Good luck on this one Rod
