i received my Stage 1 Buick 455 yesterday and was putting a list together. I'm not 100 percent understanding the carb world however I found that it has a Holley 1850-4 carb which if I'm correct is only 600cfm!! Shouldn't I at least run 750-800?? If so could someone help me with possibly a better choice ? I would love one that I can almost just unbolt this one and bolt on the new one a go! Anyone have one sitting around they would sell? Would anyone be interested in mine? Help please. Oh trying not to break the bank
There's severacal Carb guys that rebuild and sell carbs on the board. Year of your car makes a difference if you want to keep it original with a stage1 carb. If not there are lots of potential q jets for you. Check the vendor threads as I think they are listed there.
You are correct. In 70 Buick 455 had a 750 cfm Quadrajet and 71-76 utilized the larger primary 800 cfm rated on all 455's. We have one built ready to ship for stock or very mild 455. It is 800 cfm. We will have a 70 unit, 750 cfm completed next week. Most of our business is built to order so we could build one for you if you have modifications. https://www.quadrajetpower.com/online-store/Buick-455-Quadrajet-7042240-800-cfm-p85709143

They are a good basic carb on a stock or stockish small block . Low rpm big block in a cruiser , RV or truck . A $20 kit and a $10 vac sec diaphragm will do it .
