I have the Factory fader and the blue single wire is still in the car... however the speaker was missing. Maybe someone could post a pic or information on what that should look like for a 72 Skylark. Thanks in advance!
visit www.turnswitch.com as he carries replacement speakers that work with original radios....they work great and a knowledgeable person too.
George, turnswitch has the correct front speaker but not the rear. I have checked them out and could not find it. There are plenty of NOS rears out there but most do not have the old single connector like original. You need an adapter. The correct rear had a bare steel frame and a square piece in the bottom center.
Thanks! He has all the speakers! I would still love to see what a factory set up looks like installed.... anybody?
right, the one wire connection is what the issue is... plus I would like to see the original mounting hardware and possibly where the wire is routed... I suppose I can just ground the negative connector to the package tray with a jumper.. or could I?
Blue wire ran along pass side floor and then under and up the rear seat...mirror image of the factory wiring loom on the driver's side.......connect blue wire to + terminal and run a black ground wire from - terminal to stud holding speaker to the package tray.
what u want is a 6 x 9 speaker with 8 or 10 ohm resistance. i think audiovox may still manufacture that type of speaker. i have rear dual radio shack 8 ohm speakers from the late 1980's as i have an am/fm 8 track stereo radio in my car.
Local yard has a 73 LS that I posted in the Junkyard Jewels section... I think it still has the factory rear speaker....don't know the condition.
