WTB Small console from Skylark/GS bucket seat car 1970-1972 I am looking for the small 1/2 size console that was used with columm shift bucket seat cars. Years 1970-1972. Any assistance will be very appreciated. Thanks, Mark
Are you talking the the 72 up console with the accordian door? This was the so called mini console. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...erpage=25&highlight=console type&pagenumber=1
Jim, I actually have never seen one in person, all I currently have to go by is a picture from the Buick sales brochure, which shows one similar to the one that Chris had. The car is a 1971 model with bucket seats, columm shift and a big hole between the seats. Since the car will not be a concours restoration, I will be willing to interchange on years, just so long as it fits, and is in good condition. Any suggestions? Thanks again for your assistance. Mark
You want the medium console. There are basically 4 consoles. 1. Full length console for floor shift automatics 2. 4 spd console 3. medium console, basically a storage bin 4. mini console, small storage bin The medium console is found in many Buick models with column shifted trans. I have usually found them in the 70-2 Rivs. Most common problem on them is the tops are soft vinyl and they will split. I believe CARS sells new/NOS lids for $80-90. Be patient, they do show up here and on Ebay. I sold two of them last year. Have not seen one since. Below is the pic of the "rare" piece.
Is this console actually rare? I have one sitting between my buckets now, Mark. Looks really good. Trouble is, there apparently a plate that mates to the console that is between the console and floor- the bottom of the console is contoured and shaped in a way that makes me feel the recess in it is supposed to mate to another piece. I fabbed one up from wood to mount the console. Not terribly sturdy! If anyone is selling the console and you want to buy, I recommend inquiring about the possiblity of this plate's existence and where it can be found Just a heads up in case it's something of a surprise. It was for me.
Found a pic. I had a new cover put on the lid. local custom upholstery guy did a great job in Madrid vinyl so it would match my new seats. This custom job is about a million times more robust than the original cover, in my opinion The pic below was taken about 2 hours after the one I use for my avatar was taken, actually
Dang Guys, thats the critter I am a huntin for. I've got an idea, Can I borrow one of your cars for say 10 minutes, and go for a test drive, I promise I will bring it back:Brow: Ok, enough of that, If anyone can assist me with one they dont want , or would maybe prefer to have a few dollars in their pocket rather than a part on the garage shelf, please let me know. Thanks to all, Mark :TU:
Number 3 comes in Type 1 and 2. Type 1 is 65-70 and Type 2 is 70 -71. Type 1 has the tri shield and Type 2 has a button in lieu of the tri shield.
