I have a '69 GS350, Verde Green w/ pearl int and black vinyl top. I am considering repainting in a Yellow or an Aqua color and would like to see some examples of these colors on some cars. Anyone out there have yellow or aqua cars they can post pics of? Thanks, Dan 1969 GS 350
Here's my banana: <img src=http://home.earthlink.net/~mwdimartino/ebay/skylarkk.JPG> By the way, its not yellow it's Cameo Cream
My car (sorry, don't have a digital picture handy) is yellow like Skylarkdude's. But, I would add two items to consider. One, the current paint is a base/clearcoat from a 1985 Subaru color that matched the Buick's color scan. Much shinier and deeper than the original arcylic lacquer paint. Second, I removed my vinyl top and painted the top a shiney black (that was also a factory option). Have had many compliments, and it's less maintenance.
YellowLark: Question about the du-tone painting.. I like the idea, especially on the maintence side. If you were to go the original colors just no vinyl, would you keep or ditch the chrome trim peices?
Ken, holy cow, I was there too. Too bad I didn't get to talk to you, maybe next time? Those guys are not in my picture
CyberBuick, The two-tone cars like mine have the same aluminum garnish belt moldings as the vinyl top cars. The moldings cover the color separation line, so you need to carefully mask the paint lines to meet under the cover area of the moldings. I'll take some pictures of mine this weekend to post here. OOOPS! - just re-read your question about the paint being all the same color. In that case, remove the moldings and fill their holes. The moldings make no sense on a one-color car.
YellowLark, No, you were correct the first read through.. I want to keep the color combo but avoid dealing with the vinyl. Silverfern & White.. :TU: Strange tho, when I first got the car I wasn't too keen on the color, but now I rather like it.. :bglasses:
Tom's Sunburst yellow GS is cowl code 56 B (56 for lower body color Sunburst yellow and B is for a black vinyl top).
Are you looking to keep it "original" as to colors offered in 1969 ?? If you haven't already, on the BB theres an area called members rides....look in the 68'69 section Also, Here's a link to a website that has many '69 photo's Take a look around http://www.flash.net/~stanbrad/page69.htm
Alan, No, I am looking for a nice yellow that would look good on the car. The Sunburst yellow looks pretty good from what I can tell from the picture. I don't want it too light and I don't want it too school bus looking like the color of the GSX yellow...no offense! Dan
That was my friend Jeff Corkill's car. It was actually a clone. He sold it to get money for his GN, which is also mint. Everything, I mean everything was correct on this GS, all except the VIN, and that was taken care of by the guy who bought it from him. The VIN was taken from a junked car, so now it is basically resurrected. Kind of unorthodox, but still legit in my book. That was the auto fair in Charlotte 2002. The spring one. Do you know Jeff? He and his wife Terri were co directors of the Carolinas chapter for a couple years. They just turned it over to Tim Icenhour and his wife.
Ken Jeff sold it because Larry Miller sold him his 70 GSX QQ. From there it went to Tom Baker in Charlotte, then John Aldridge in Southport, and has now been sold again to a guy in Georgia. A very nice car indeed. Even had the controls for the CD changer in the trunk hidden in the chrome Klenex box. Jim Lore
