I have come across this forum several times while searching for parts for my 66 special - Had to join in!:beer

I do have a question (surprise surprise ).

Can anyone tell me if the th400 will fit the 300 ci engine (wildcat 310) that was offered in 66?

What catagory does the 300 fit into:
does it use the BOP pattern?
If it's not a nailhead - are there any other names for it? (be nice).
Do the "A," bodies take a long tale or short tail transmission?

I have been all through the service manual for my car (as well as many internet sites) and can not locate the answers to these questions.

    Sincere Thanks, Brad Winter

    Brad,
    • The TH 400 will fit a 300 engine
    • The 300 is a small block, and shares design features with the 340 and 350
    • The 300 uses the BOP bolt pattern
    • I have heard it called a "Mini-Nailhead," but that is confusing since it is not
    • The short tail 400 was used in the A-body
    Hope that helps!

    Cheryl :)
