To me it looks like someone doing his best to help a friend who thinks he knows more than he does. I'm guessing seings how there doing it themselves, $$ is a big issue. I can relate altho I wouldn't post videos on youtube if my shortcuts looked that bad.. I'm sure it'll work, just not look so pretty. Hopefully the visible bodywork looks a little cleaner. Dave
I love the pile of new repro parts for the front, but all the structural stuff is getting patched up ghetto style. Should be the other way around, a lot easier to replace bolt on parts later than welded in structural components.
I have never seen anything quite like that.!!!.We do a better job patching and fixing the gear at the mine and i am not a good welder...:idea2:
Mark, the font size about made me fall out of my chair! Be easy on me man, I'm just getting used to new glasses!!! :eek2: Devon
As bad as that welding job is, my flux core welder is doing a great job and my welds don't look anything like that.
Just think that car could be on the same road as us and our families one day. I hope I get past him before the wreck happens .
The sad part is that this car will probably get sold to someone who doesn't know what they're looking at. At a minimum I see a bad wreck, I'd worry about cosmetics later and fix the structural part correctly. Parts are readily available and relatively inexpensive for that car.
It almost looks like he's using MIG wire without shielding gas. like he used up the small roll of flux core and bought regular to replace it. I'm ok with some brazing and from the looks of it he would have been better off brazing the entire car instead of welding.
I thought the same thing. The car will probably end up with a passable paint job and look halfway decent to someone looking for a cheap Camaro. Little do they know, they bought a total wreck.
