Gotta put a pan rockers and corners in,....my friends say I'm wreckless ha,..mayybbee I'll put a ratchet strap to hold it,..idk,..if the mood strikes me
Only had one car fall on me and I was doing something stupid ha,...I just think of all the threads I've seen here and elsewhere of guys worried to death about intake bolts stripping,...build 6x6 forts to for bady cradles,..jungle gyms for for support when lifting a body etc and I just think these guys would have a damn heart attack if they hung out with me for a few days
When I dropped off a 60 Porsche speedster off at another shop few weeks ago,....I just wasn't gonna get to it,..but anyway I had a chain X'd using the 8mm seat studs,..them guys lost their minds when they seem it and couldn't believe they held to lift it,....give me a cherry picker,..a chain and a 4x6 timber and I'll figure something out
One for a board member here,.. original owner 88 t top,.. pretty rare actually,.. getting a full rotisserie deal with a 351 swap
Having had a very close call working under one of my '55s on a bumper jack, I got religion as far as safety goes. I'm not as good about safety glasses as I should be, but I always wear them when grinding or sawing.
I learned about proper safety as a 6 year old kid who had just watched a 61 Valiant fall off its bumper jack while my father was underneath it. Thankfully our neighbor Romeo was there to get the car jacked up enough to get him out. My father was unhurt, but he did need to change his trousers. He never trusted a bumper jack again. Neither did I for anything other than roadside tire changes as needed.
Ha I've done some sketch stuff with carpentry as well,...I've always been more of a just figure it out as I go kinda guy,...makes for interesting situations
I am also a just figure out guy, but I am pretty confident in judgement before I get under something.
When I was a out 8 years old... my Dad had a 55 chevy pickup fall off jack stands and crush his legs. One broken leg and about 200 stitches between both legs..... you'd think I'd learn....
You're not a cat.... you only get one chance, not nine. Be careful! I try to double-think precarious situations, especially when outside. If something happens to me, the vultures and coyotes will likely to be the first ones to find me.
I have seen some sketchy crap at the pick and pull yards with people pulling parts. Sometimes I'm like what the hell were they thinking, other times I'm like that's brilliant
About 20 years ago a guy lost his life at the local pick and pull yard I frequented back then. Place was forced to close until the police investigation concluded. Had a bunch of new safety measures in place when they reopened. Most parts cars are now up on solid stands.
