I am 28 now, but I bought my first GN when I was 19. I bought my GS when I was 25. I just bought a T -Type today. Man I love Buicks. It was funny when I bought my GN all my freinds had Mustangs ans Camaros, They did not no what to think when I dusted them.
12 years ago I would have fit in that category to answer the original question/ thread topic. I was 19 when I bought my 1st Buick. I thought I was the only "young" Buick nut around for years. Since my 1st i've had a total of 6 and sold everyone except for my 1st. Ronnie
When my grandfather was living, ever since I was a little boy he was always fixing up classic's and old musclecar's as a hobby of his, that's how I got bitten the bug. He had a two story garage where you could fit 20-30 cars up top and 9-12 cars on the bottom. He had a Hemi's, SS's, Z28's, GTO's, and every other car out there. The one car he had was a '65 Skylark convertible that I remember the most. It was blue with a white top and interior. That's what got me turned onto Buick's. For some reason I got attached to that car and when I saw that '70 Lesabre convertible forsale a few years ago it reminded me of him, so I bought it. I later sold it to my brother and now I got my GS 350 4-speed. The Buick's have a tremendous amount of character that no other car has, they certainly make a bold presence. I feel that's why my grandfather had a certain respect for these cars and I do too. Besides the car's he also bought and sold firetrucks. Heck, he even bought my brother's and I a firetruck for each of us, they were the big ones too. LOL. It sure was fun when I use to sit on his lap and drive those cars:grin:
I am 29 and have had my Buick for 4 years. Guess that sorta makes me one of the "young" guys. (trying really hard to not be 30 this month) Lori, my girlfriend has had her 67 Special since her 16th birthday. It was her great grandmothers car (original owner) and was willed to her. Just turned 100,000 miles last week.
At age 8 taking rides in my friends old novas and chevelles but ever since my dad took me out in his buick i was hooked. I said "dad, can you spin your tires?" He said you meen like this? Then I was in Love. How come there can't be more girls into buicks that are our age? Geez why don't u live around here. Later, lars.
hehe u mean me? Come to IL p all we have here are young rice boys who think adding a park bench and neon lights oh cant forget a system, to their cars will make them fast as all hell..... but then you see them get smoked by a soccer mom in a mini van its too funny for words hehe
Yeah i beat one of them in the mothers honda oddesy. It was very comical. No need for the big guns to come out. Come on over to connecticut all these girls know what to do here is how to put gas in the car and be mediocre drivers. Later, lars.
ummmm i drive my dad's car for right now ... i dont think he would like the idea of me piling the miles up on it  if you have AOL or AIM send me a PM if u want to talk
i havent raced in it yet.... we only took it to the track a few times so far.... but i will be racing it soon enough :Brow:
21 here, been raised on gm musclecars since age 5, so i know a thing or 2 about buicks, more or less the turbo cars that is. Great knowing about older cars as they are much easier to work on than newer cars (trust me father owns car dealership, new cars are big pain in the a$$!!:af: Proud to be a BUICK owner, since age 17, though im lucky i never knew this many young kids knew about buicks. most of the time they think it either is a chevy monte carlo ss or has a chevy 350 with a "weird sounding turbo" on itou: I will take a chevy owner over a ricer but not by much.
I'm 30 and have been collecting American cars since I was 15. I started out collecting Impalas, when I was 17 my only reason for going to high school was to spend all day in the Auto shop wrenchin' on my SS, oh yeah and to play ball. I don't discriminate and have owned many different makes of 60's vintage cars including a '64 Cutlass and '69 Cougar XR7. I got my first Buick when I was in college, it was a '65 Wildcat. My obsession is ongoing and I built my 16 year old brother a '64 Wildcat for his first car to pass it on. I think the younger crowd has a better grasp on the uniqueness of these old cars.
I went into one of the local burger shacks around Chicago last weekend and was surprised by the sales's guy's first comment. Instead of what do you want, he asked me if that was my black car out there. He had some facts wrong (didn't know if it was a 6 or 8, or 88 or 87) but I was really impressed that a high school guy would know what a GN is. Now if I'd come in with the 66GS Riv maybe it would have been another story. But amyhow, great to see that these old cars are still appreciated by today's young adults.
I am 22 (23 on Thursday) and I've had my Skylark since I was 15. My uncle used to always tell me stories about his '70 GTO and I wanted a GM A-body for my first car. I was really looking for a Chevelle, but fortunately I came across my Skylark first. It was my daily driver until I went to College, it was taking too much money to keep it on the road so it was retired for a VW GTI. I'm into both the import and domestic scenes now, I have a 350Z as a daily driver which is nice for the warranty, good mileage, decent power and all the a/c and power options, and the Skylark works well as a weekend cruiser/race car.
24 here............. been lovin' the buicks ever since I got my GS back in summer of '96...........and it's gonna be ready this summer! I agree that a lotta the young ones don't appreciate the old cars as much as they used to...........but after all, what can you expect from a generation that mostly doesn't know how to change spark plugs or what an alternator is. Damn new cars...........always staying in tune! :Brow:
A '69 Sky was my First ride when I was 17. Drove that through college and then some and junked it with over 330,000 miles on it and ALOT of memories. Learned to work on it Myself 'cause i didn't have the money to pay anyone while in college. Many times it Sat while I saved for parts or tools to Fix it. The Chasis service manual was Bedtime Story Book Had a bunch (9?) since then and have had my GS Conv. for 10 years now. Jeee......41 came fast !!! GoldieLox was promised to my Nephew about 5 years ago - he just turned 17 and is going to U-Conn in the fall. uzzled: His Dad (now divorced from my sister) bought him a new Accord - said he couldn't drive a car without Airbags, Anti-lok and Disc brakes as his first car ou: He's not really interested anyways.....would rather have an old Rustang
