I had a '55 Buick complete rear end assembly in the back yard. After about a year my mother ordered me to get it out of there. Grudgingly I took it to Central Salvage, a scrapyard now long gone, in Needham, MA. Exactly one day later I blew up the pinion in my '55 Buick's differential. I went back to Central Salvage and had to buy back for $35, the exact rear end that I had given them.
Not exactly junkyard but.....coming back from the GS Nats in the mid-90s we stayed at a motel next to a car repair place....of course I had to dive into the dumpster to see what was there.....out I came with a couple G-body aluminum rear drums...they are on my car to this day.
