And if you had it to do over again, what changes would you make from your original build?

    Possibly the cam?
Raise or lower the compression ratio?
    Paint color/scheme? Exhaust note? ETC.

Or did your build end up performing/looking just the way you intended?

Doug, these are words I don't yet know.
4th engine in the red car, and considering this one a temporary. Like the color and look, but needing a tire change. Now want a more pro-touring look and suspension. Was built to go straight, real fast.
Race car always needs to be faster. Suspension still being tweaked. Would like to go with different transmission.
GN, another tranny in the works, and hopefully Tyler can drive it for a while.

I change my mind daily on my convertible build. I'll see what I end up with.

Im not done yet (are they ever really done??) but I started out to patch some panels and refresh the 350. Now im elbows deep in a frame-off and my new 462 is about ready to dyno (can you say snowball effect!!). My only regret so far is that I wish I wouldve sprung for forged pistons so I could put the bottle to it if i felt froggy.:Brow:

I wish mine was done... I sometimes switch parts out for something I found better or because i'm going a different route on stuff i didnt install

If my mind stayed set on a decision i'd most likely be done years ago haha
Though I think i'm pretty set on everything now

My car is done except for the dough it will cost to fix the A/C.

    Here's what I've got -
Stock appearing '68 GS 400 with:
30 over 455, forged pistons, Scotty Brown cam, old ported iron Stage 1 heads
    Ported intake and exhaust manifolds
    Homebuilt cowl induction
    Shift kit
Big front swaybar and added junkyard rear bar
    Air bags
Aluminum drums, stock front, '80s Regal rear
Stock 14" sport wheels and radials
    3.08 posi rear

    Good points -
pretty quick for a street car (13.20 @ 104 best)
Handles ok, it's no sports car
mileage - up to 17 mpg on long trips
I have maybe $10k into the whole car
It's a great, reliable driver that I would take cross country with no hesitation.

    Issues -
I can't in good conscience run at the Pure Stock events
The car is not fast enough to run FAST
It's a stepchild year. Nobody understands how much improved it is over stock, it's always compared to a '70-'72 Stage car and it's not impressive in that light

    Regrets/changes I'd like -
    Better stock appearing heads/more power
    more gear
four speed auto for mileage or 6 speed manual for fun AND mileage
    working A/C
sticky tires for racing - I'll probably do this someday
More time to get it out and drive

I need to get my stock rods out and get these 4340 billet babies in:

But I'll need pistons w/floating pins, so a set of Diamonds will have to happen, which will require an overbore and balance job, and while it's apart...

You know how that slippery slope goes!

    Doug,
JW is still working on my 470, but I am sparing no expense. I want it to be all it can be. To that end, I have a brand new TA cover, and SRE oil pan. I'll bet you wished you had put a bigger pan on yours. How is your 470 doing?

    LOL!
You're correct, I do wish I'd put a bigger pan on it. I guess JW has one for me.

I have it out and sitting on the stand. But, I have not been inside it yet.
Debating on just shipping it to JW or not. I'll decide over the weekend.
I have myself convinced that the pan was my issue, theres no major damage inside and if there is, I will build another 470 just like this one (other than the pan).
I also want to swap my 3.73s for 3.90s this winter.

Stepchild belongs in the "Possitives" section of your post!
Comparing to the 70-72 Stage? Perhaps not as impressive in performance, but those lines of the 68/69 can't be beat!

And that's not an opinion, THAT"S A FACT! :TU:
