I'm from eastern PA and now live in Arizona. I miss "Ying-Ling." If anyone is heading this way from a place that sells THE lager, please let me know. You would officially be my hero!!!
My parents are originally from SE PA and I remember visiting my relatives back in the 60's. The Yuengling beer truck would come by the house and drop off a full case & pick up the empties! It was in returnable bottles back then and they had home delivery of beer just like the dairies did with milk! I had never seen such a thing. I don't think they do it now.
The sixties was a different era. There is a package store in Newton Lower Falls, MA. that delivers liquor to Wellesley, which doesn't allow the sale of liquor except by the drink in restaurants (no bars). Both Newton and Wellesley are upscale communities. When the booze is delivered, the driver checks the ID. The recipient of the liquor must be 21 and the address on the ID must match the address of the house. BTW: I had a great happening two weeks ago in the Charlotte airport. I got carded. I'm 66!
I get Lagunitas all the time at the grocery store. "Lucky 13" is a pretty good one. After being in Germany for over 5 years I've become spoiled on good Biers. I haven't had a Bud, Miller, etc.. since. The Micro-Brews are done pretty well. There's a nice Doppel Bock out of Pike's Market area in Seattle. They do a great job and the Biers are very nice. Ok.... I've hijacked this thread enuff...
Stuck in Norfolk this week and the hotel bar has this stuff on tap (Lager). Not bad! Not as good as a slug of Woodford Reserve, but it's good.
