After rebuilding my engine awhile back I started using a zinc replacement product product called ZDDPLUS that came in a 4oz bottle and treated 4-5 quarts of oil. Recently, when I needed more additive I found a product called ZDDPMAXX that treated 4-6 quarts of oil but came in a 2oz bottle. Has anyone tried either of these products? I'm hoping I get the same protection out of the 2oz bottle thinking its just more concentrated but you never know.
i am not sure. i just run valvoline vr1 racing oil, it has the zinc that flat tappets need. napa has it or can get it. another choice that is a little tougher to find is brad penn oil. it is suppose to be really good stuff. i guess they took over the old kendall refinery and their oil is green in color. joe gibbs is another option but is very pricey.
Isnt ZDDPlus what Eastwood sells? If you can still get it, and you know it works, I'd stick with it. Putting something new in the mix is inviting problems. I guess you could always contact the maker of the new stuff and see about compatibility and dosage concerns. ray:
Richard Clark of Burlington, NC is the creator/owner of this product and the company. He is a serious Turbo Buick person and has more turbo Buick cars and parts than anyone can believe. He is on the TurboBuick.com He is hosting the 2012 Turbobuick.com Nationals May 2nd-5th sponsored by ZDDPlus Gary
Richrd Clark I believe sells the ZDDP MAXX in the 2 oz bottle not the stuff from Eastwood which comes in 4 oz bottles as ZDDPLUS.
yes, the new z-rod has more then enough zddp and it also has rust prohibutors which is pretty damn cool if you just rebuilt a nice and clean engine or. There was another lineup for amsoil that also had zinc 1500+ ppn..can't think of it but it only came in 20w40 and 10w40 but i'd rather have the z-rod for the rust inhibutors and better choice of oil visclocity..
