mapquest says that there are two Salem OH's!

So what is the zip code or a highway number for our Salem?

I just started looking direction while at work and do not have any info here with me from the newsletters.

    Thanks

    I'd say....

You want to head to Charleston, WV and cont up I-77 toward Cleveland. Great drive thru the hills!:TU:

jimmy, you going up I 95 to DC, then heading west ? or some other route ? the hills are big in WV. if you take I 70 to wheeling WV, theres lots of bad road if you go north from wheeling. or I 77N which is pretty far out of the way. which route you taking north ? henry

jimmy, IMO , the best way to go from greenville is 95 north to 495 around the west side of DC, then hit I 270 to I 70 west, to breezewood PA. then take the PA turnpike to OH line. that turns into the OH turnpike. get off at N. Lima OH. take 7 south to 14 west to salem.

i know i advised againt using the PA tp the other day, but to go across NC to get to I 77 is a long drive. if i was already in western NC, theni would take I 77 thru WV.

this is just my opinion on the most direct / fastest route. but i did drive all these interstates for a living.

One route that is on mapquest is to go north on 95 and then over to the west at Washington like you suggust.

I used to work at Ryder for 15 years and whenever I went somewhere I always asked a truck driver the best way there. It is amazing to me how they could rattle off so many road numbers to anywhere you want to go.

When we went to Columbus in 99 we went west to 77 and up through WV. It was hilly with only one bad one. I was driving the car in my avatar so it wasn't so bad.

I will most likely take 95 and see how that is.

    Thanks.

jimmy, 95 is something to consider. if I 77 thru WV didnt take you too long before, then you might want to do that again. one thing, if you do take 95, you want to hit DC area before about 3 pm because 270 gets real heavy leaving DC at rush hour. other than DC, there is no rush hour to worry about on that route. have a safe trip. henry

I hope to leave Wilson after picking up Alan around 2 pm or a little later. What time will that put me in Washington area and how bad will the traffic be?

If I remember right it was about an 11 hour drive to Coumbus. We had a friend towing his car behind us.

i would say if you leave wilson at 2, get to VA line at 3 , you would get to DC area about 7. my times were always in a big truck, so you may make better time than i did. i figure 4 hours to cross VA on 95. i would take the richmond VA bypass. when you get to 495 it will say 495 west bethesda. shortly after you cross the potomac river into MD, you hit 270, that takes you to 70 west at frederick MD. from there its about an hour or so to breezewood PA, then about 6 hours to the OH line.

    Henry has a good point

The hills are mountains:Brow: And I still would go 77 if in a car, but a trailer, you might want to fight the DC traffic & turnpike construction.

If you go 77, note the MANY runaway truck ramps off to your right. I'd never want to use one of those (unless I really had too)!!!:eek2:

I enjoy the runaway ramps on Black Mountain coming back from BG!

It's fun going up or down towing a car.
