Mallory Ignition 692 - Mallory HyFire IVC CD Ignition Mallory's HyFire IVC CD ignitions give you a hot, race-ready spark, and protect your engine against over-rev with two proportional rev limiters. With their capacitive discharge (CD) system, they give you a stable, uniform spark throughout your engine's rpm range, with no high rpm drop-off like other boxes. The programmable rev limiters give you a high rpm limit, and the other is a staging rpm limit. The limiters are adjustable from 1,000 to 12,000 rpm in 100 rpm increments--no chips or modules to buy. Compatible with most electronic and magnetic trigger systems, they also feature a bypass function that allows you to quickly and easily revert back to your standard ignition. Just wondering where you install the coil for your mallory ignition? They say not to install them on the motor, and I got rid of my inner fenders some time ago.o No:
I've got 19 seasons of the coil right next to the distributor. Never a problem with coil off the front of the engine.
Thanks Gary, that's what I expected, from my experience I knew of no problems, heck my HEI had the coil on it, my old Accel coil was mounted to the block years ago before the HEI with no problems. I just got a mallory distributor and coil with a 686M after years with the HEI, it was looking old. What a reason eh? Although I got some new heads and a roller coming too, and expect more omph. :3gears: Geez, I just realized I've only used 2 coils over the last 25 years, maybe more, since I got the car in 77. You didn't use the exact same coil over 19 years did you? Thanks again, Larry J
