I am looking for a quality exhaust shop in Northeast Ohio that can perform customized work such as mandrel bend stock pipe and/or fabricate similar pieces. This is for a '70 GS. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.
Probably cheaper to get a complete A-body exhaust from Summit than have someone local TRY to bend up some pipe.
Thanks for the reply. I already have a new 2.5" TA Performance exhaust system in it now. Unfortunately, there is a significant droning problem around 2,000 rpm. I'm looking to splice in a section of larger diameter pipe on both sides behind the mufflers with the hope that this will mitigate the issue.
What mufflers are you running? I run 3" TA with an X-pipe and flowmaster super 44s and have a ton of interior drone. I believe the drone is more caused by the mufflers.
I run 2.5" stainless and have Dyno Max Stainless mufflers and bullets. the bullets are behind the axle tucked up in the 1/4. There is absolutely no drone.
Walker Dyno Max Super Turbo long-case mufflers on a TA2007A 2.5" system with an H pipe. I'm pretty sure the drone is a resonance issue and based on reviewing other posts on this topic am not sure that swapping mufflers will solve the problem. I believe putting some form of resonator behind the mufflers will at least change the RPM point at which the droning occurs (hopefully outside of normal cruising ranges).
Essentially, I am trying to create a customized bullet muffler/resonator that sits behind the mufflers yet has the general shape of the stock TA Performance pipes. The existing pipe bends behind the muffler have straight segments of 5"-8" before a bend, thus splicing in a stock bullet muffler/resonator (~20") is problematic, plus I'd like to keep the general stock shape of the system. Thus the need for a custom exhaust shop that could bend a 4" pipe and splice it in. Thanks.
It's not that difficult, I'll snap a pic or two tonight and post it. The drone usually comes in around 2200 rpm for a V8.
I had some bad drone once on my Buick and cured it by sliding a small section of pipe into the tail pipe ends.
