I need an update with the other TSP 350 builds... I hope to see some 500-600 SBB pump gas combos in the next coming years
Goody Jim! However, I'd like N/A option too as I am concerned about the size of the packaging with the hair dryers. If not, there's the BBB option but there goes my frontal weight which the SBB has an advantage.
Now THAT sounds interesting. What EFI system will you be using? I've been wondering for years why the turbo 6 guys are not transplanting Buick 350s. It's almost the same motor with 2 extra cylinders and better flowing heads. By DIS, do you mean distributorless? I've been looking at the higher end MegaSquirt stuff lately. I would like to do a very mild 455 for the street with twin turbos and port sequential EFI and coil on plug. Money and time... money and time.
Holley hp efi with msd magnetic flying trigger wheel along with GN ignition module. If I had a do over,I'd go FiTech 8 injector forced tbi for simplicity.
Well, I've hinted at it several times in this thread and the day is finally here. But a little(or a lot of) back story. 45 years ago, when we lived in San Antonio while my father was in the Army, the family had a red 1970 Skylark Custom with a white vinyl top. A few years back, I managed to pick up a red 1970 Skylark Custom convertible(pearl top from the factory). It had a rebuilt engine and when I punched the gas, well it was underwhelming. I debated a 455 swap but wanted to stick to a SBB with this car as I have a GS 455 project car. Well, a couple years ago, someone posted a set of 350 heads and a TA Stage 1 intake for sale. They had been ported by Greg Gessler, who had been out of the business for a couple years at that time I think. Once I got the heads they were soon put in an out of way spot on my garage floor as a '68 Firebird convertible project was in the way. Months later, with some late night reading here at V8Buick and the heads sitting on my garage floor, the idea of what to do with every thing quickly came to mind, have Tri-Shield Performance build a hydraulic roller cammed Buick 350 with the Gessler ported heads. This would provide me with enough vacuum for power brakes and a very nice idle for a convertible. So, a while back, I crated up all the parts I had collected and shipped them up north for Jim's handiwork. So, here are the results with factory manifolds: And with the dyno headers: I was stunned when I saw the 400 in the horsepower column. Thanks to Jim and Tri-shield Performance for getting this done. 400 hp out of a iron headed Buick 350! To say I'm a little excited to get the engine down here to San Antonio and installed in my Lark is an understatement! Compression ratio – 9.7-1 Head CC 57 Piston CC 16 Gasket .040 Bore- 3.830 Stroke –3.85 Camshaft type and Manufacturer: TA /Schneider Hydraulic Roller Part Number: TA 212 HR- 350 PS If you need someone to guess the weight of your engine, let Jim give it a shot. He's good for +/- 1 lbs.
Not bad, iron heads dual plane intake 400 HP and 404 ft lbs of torque! Wish Jim had a SP3 sitting around to try out on that combo when he was there! The last sbb 350 JW posted had a flat tappet version of the 212 cam, IIRC only eked out 350 HP but still made 400 ft lbs of torque. Must be the combination of the port job on the heads and the roller cam that got the HP up to a very streetable 400 HP? Is there any flow numbers for those heads that you can share?
I also posted them here along with the flow numbers for the intake: http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/buick-350-head-airflow-numbers.323659/
