I’m actually looking to pull my 3.73 for 3.42 . It’s a convertible so cruise is better then acceleration. So ta only has a few heads left? Maybe I should get some just in case.
Sounds like it squeaked the tires after 60 ft...did I hear a 3rd gear chirp?! Not if I up the nitrous jet to a 100 shot. It will take that 118 mph to run me down
Didnt I just call them HAHAHAHAHA I've waited this long, whats another 20 years yah know Seriously tho, during the winter I wasnt too anxious, but now the driving season is here, Im more anxious, I could still go to the track and try to eek down a few tenths or try picking up a mph or two, but the oil that was only on a couple spark plug threads and is now on all the plug threads has me concerned. This issue points to my iron heads as this issue has followed various builds thru the years with the same heads I REALLY REALLY wanna try different shift points as it doesnt seem to help spinning it to 7 grand, I still believe the 350 is about torque.
Just go out and run the hell out of it there is nothing wrong except some 7 grand shifts to clean it all out. If something was going to go wrong with a 350 with Stock parts don't you think I would have proven that out by now? I am going to have to go out and do some darned leakdown test just to prove something. Throw a 150 shot of nitrous on it and put that mother in the 11's smack that thing around a little bit. Then put the heads on and see if you get to the 10's with a 150 shot NOW that would be something to talk about and NOT type about it.
There are only 2 ways for oil to get on the plug threads, from outside (valve cover leaks), and from the inside. If it was from the inside, I would expect to see it on the electrodes as well, and the engine would smoke.
I suspect the guides, when I get the irons off I’ll snap a pic or two, I remember seeing oil emanating from what looked like a crack around a few guides
40 thou gaskets would be 45 thou quench zone which is ok. 30 thou would be ideal I believe. my high compression NA engine has a 29 thou quench distance and my boosted engine is at 38 thou. Although quench distance is far less critical with boost. NA it’s vital to optimize the quench distance with a closed chamber head.
