Looking up? I am a Buick engine builder and known all that stuff from memory.. I work with it every day. Any good bearing catalog has all the housing bore and rod bore and shaft dimensions in it. But, your welcome.. JW
I bought the shim stock in sheets so all I have to do is cut it to the proper width, done. It's been a long time but if I remember correctly it came in .0005", 0010" & up from there. I would never have thought to try & take up .010" with shim stock although I've heard of others who have. Tom T.
I took the crank to another shop and he said the same thing. So I'll be taking the block over on Monday , thanks.
I like Tom's .0005- .001 shim sheet stock idea. I would try it as it would increase the bearing crush to the appropriate standards.
Does that really work? Do you shim one half only? I feel like it would lift the ends a bit and create a step in between the the two half's. Or does the shim go around the whole bore?
