I've been inspecting my wiring harness today. Looks pretty good. Have to fix a few things, but then it can be used again.
Special tool to install bushings to rear, made me chuckle TH350 low/reverse piston removal tool, two old carrier bearing shims, old pinion bearing race, and some hardware. Total hack, and did the job
Whoa…. Haven’t changed my own oil for a while. Not sure if I trust the dealer to do a service contract on it? Thought if I did any other shenanigans in it, I should have some fresher oil in there. Is this a “normal” oil dipstick location for an A-body 455? Easier to pull the dipstick through the brake hard lines near the master cylinder. Not a big deal. Just curious of the engines origin.
I set up the oil pump clearances, fully assembled the timing cover with oil pump, water pump and installed it on the engine. Installed the pick up tube and windage tray also. Now to find the energy to install the oil pan and balancer.
Yesterday I fitted the new door cards to the Wildcat. Drilled the holes and marked all the trim locations. Using a heavy black plastic rather than cardboard. After that polished all the stainless trim. Today I get to clean up the shop before it gets out of hand again. Might fit the oil pump to the Tomahawk.
That's where the dipstick is located on my 400. I don't have headers, though. Have to bend it a little to clear the bottom of the master cylinder when checking the oil.
Ok, so I had some time on my hands this afternoon. Pulled a couple degrees timing out of the GS400 that I had put in it a couple weeks ago. Now it's at 32 degrees total. Also try to lean the idle mixture a tad by turning the mixture screws in 1/4 turn. Had to bump the idle up a bit, too. Seems to run fine, but idles a tad bit rougher. Not to the point of stalling when I stop or anything. Seems like you can really hear the KB cam at idle better, now!
Did you permanently mount the sensor in the exhaust and the gauge in the car, or do you stick the sensor in the tail pipe?
The place is absolutely amazing and great people. The only problem is they are way over loaded. There must have been at least twenty 4 drawer file cabinets full of files just for 2021. I love going in there. It’s nice to have it local so I can run over and pick up anything needed. Doing a 76 ford truck bench seat and got NOS elk grain in funky green, matches perfectly.
Installed new seat springs for the 'vert today. Many broken springs after 50+ years. Going to finish recovering over the holidays.
