Yesterday I put some of the new interior back into the Wildcat. Had been holding off due to still not having the window scarpers and fuzzys. Back ordered a month to date so some of this has to come back out. Least I got all the holes punched through the material in the right spots. Will wait for the parts before I do the seats.
So, this morning friends called and invited us to meet them for breakfast. We took the GS400 since the weather was awesome and there was nothing parked behind it. Needed to put gas in it anyway.
Loaded my wildcat in the trailer for the long trip to Phoenix on Wednesday. Not gonna lie, It was a **** show, with all the snow we have it wouldn’t go in the trailer without spinning out and going sideways with the posi. Then I tried driving back into the storage unit but the hill made it impossible. I was stuck on flat ground doing donuts -30 wasn’t helping my cause. Had to drive it a few miles on icy & salted road to a different shop with level entry. To make matters worse my coilover springs were backordered so I had solid front suspension and had a solid bumpy ride the whole way. Got lots of strange looks and when I would try speeding up cause I was holding up traffic the car would just go sideways, couldn’t give it any throttle with the sniper Efi, there was no feathering the gas pedal. Hopefully the trip to Phoenix will be uneventful but I doubt it…
The wife thought it was pretty funny when I told her what happened, the entire time I was thinking how did anyone drive these cars back in the day with bias ply tires in the snow and ice…
Not the most exciting thing to put together but not bad at all. Bonus is that I can get out of the car more easily
Are you sure that the right part? There are 2. One for cars that don't hsve the chrome plate under the armrest and a slightly longer one for cars that do
Well this is more of a "what I did with my Buick" post I guess. This was new years day, had to move the Riv sans engine to my storage yard in order to free up space in the drive way, glad we had no snow. I know what you'll be thinking "hey look at those dumb Canucks, rented a car trailer hooked to a truck to tow a car with a strap" at first glance yes that's what happened, at first. We rolled the car out the drive way and down the street a bit, the road is on a slight slope. We then used the strap hooked to the car to pull it up the street a bit inorder to get the car and trailer aligned/straight with one another. Then we used a combination of a chain fall, straps and chains to pull it up onto the trailer. Oh the joys of moving a car with no engine .
I’m not sure I do have the right part. I don’t have any chrome plates but that doesn’t mean the interior didn’t come with them (I’ve never seen the interior put together on this car. I took a chance buying. We’ll see how it goes. Car is kind of a lower optioned “custom” 72. You’d likely know better than me if it would have likely had the chrome plate) update: old latch at 1.232” new latch at .940” So no, I didn’t get the correct latch
I installed the distributor, new spark plugs and wires and finished the electrical connections. So it's ready to fire up for the first time in well over 7 years Put fuel in the carb, prime the oil, set the distributor and crank it. All with the intent to run it for 20 minutes at elevated rpm. So, midnight wasn't really the time to try that
I thought for sure you were going to say U used the strap to tow the car up to speed then let momentum do the work to get the car on the trailer. Have seen vids of crazy ass guys doing that
