3000 RPM with 245-60-15 tires would be 70 MPH. A little buzzy but not THAT wound up. I once drove my GS around with 5.13 gears. It ran 3500 RPM at 60 MPH. THAT was wound up! I drove it 100 miles a weekend to and from college. Got the same gas mileage but it took a lot longer to get there.
342? those 350's need a 2004R trans, 410 gear 3000 stall + and Iam tellin ya you would just crap your pants with the launch out of the hole. My 3500 convertor has still been the best one I ever used, could foot brake it to 3000 rpm before launching, at that moment you are at 4 grand right where that single planed roller cammed wants to turn on at, bang at 7 grand and run that 12 sec timeslip. don't let me do this first. I don't have a roller cam I just have a wimpy solid cam lol. Time to Rock lol
Lol I hope I can rock and roll at least ONCE this season, I’m out here now putzin’ on it. Just CC’d my piston @ TDC, the piston box says 7.9 cc I measured 10 cc, so that puts me at 11.72 comp. ratio. Next I’m mocking up the head to intake fit. I’m drinking coffee no beer today, I’m just not feeling it
I know a 4.10 or even 4.56 it would pop wheelies But I’m sticking to my 3.42’s no extra funds for gears or overdrive
Fabricated a mount for my splash shield, kind of a hybrid set up, TA’s shield and a mount like AM&P’s Working with what I have
when i raced my 73 in stock class, ran 3.73's with goodyear fabric radials(same as state police) hr70-15 money stock racing 4.56's. drove to track, 100 miles on hr70's. racing slick was 29 x 9-15's. never any problems the 12 bolt rear setup never required traction bars. car ran like crap mon-sat. sunday it woke up. don't know why. lol
That’s my butchery LOL, instead of epoxying the ports on the intake to match the stock opening in the head, I opened up the head port to the gasket (TA composite) size. It worked before (the size) so I said heck it’s easier than playing with the epoxy. I didn’t do any shining up of the iron, just a quick clean up, if it FELT smoother than rough iron I called it good. This is a pic I took back when I did it.
Very thorough machinist you have ,..spot facing the area before tapping the hole is very professional
Yes he was. His attention to the smallest detail was extremely exceptional. He started his career working with Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins and ended with Cagnazzing racing NHRA Pro Stock team when he retired. Unfortunately he passed away last year.
so , back to headers , for my 65 - it seems the hooker #1103's are history ( need those for pre 68 chassis correct ?) i've seen some listing from Dougs Headers . any info , comments on those . anything else out there ? don't want to put some extra effort and money into motor and then use stock exhaust manifolds .
You can sometimes catch them on eBay or here on V8Buick.com. I just put a set I had blasted and ceramic coated onto my 71 GS 350 4-speed car.
Well , spotted a parts place in Florida that showed some - $450 . Not tooo bad . Email'd some questions , confirming price etc . Finally I had to call - out of stock , NA . Had a FBook connection , said to check a parts place ( new n used ) near Boston . They have a used set - $300 . Surface rust and dings . I don't know if a 6hr total drive is worth the risk to look at a "maybe" .
