Noon update for Friday.. YOU GUYS AND GALS ARE AMAZING! We are just about at our initial goal, with just CC and paypal donations, I know there is at least 1 check on the way.. 5K in 2.5 days is incredible, considering the limited size of our community. I put a call into Mike Garrision's cel phone just a few minutes ago, informing him that we are ready to transfer the first $5000 to is paypal account. Many of you may have not seen this clip, but I came across it on the internet.. this is Mike, just hours after the fire was put out, I can imagine what he's going thru. http://ksnt.com/2018/02/07/car-shop...ting-over-after-business-burns-to-the-ground/ When Bucy and I set this up, we thought that 5K would be a reasonable goal, I thought we might be able to do that in a month.. we did it in 2 and a half days... so I have done what we all should do when we reach a goal.. set the bar higher.. Thanks to everyone who has participated in this effort to date, and I encourage all of you reading this to help out if you can, the donations have been of every amount, and every little bit helps us out. I salute you all for this.. damn proud to be part of what we have going on here. JW
I just watched the video and you know what. I'm going to send another couple of bucks because it's not just about Mike. It's also about his staff and their families also. I don't know Mike but I know this community and we all help each other. And you pray that you will never need the help. But you never know. Hopefully he can build it even bigger and better!
Well done for setting this up JW,and bravo to everyone helping a fellow Buick brother in his time of misfortune and uncertainty.
Just got off the phone with Mike. He had not heard of our effort here, and when I told him we had set up a fund for him he was surprised.. he did not expect anything like this. When I told him how much we had raised so far, he was stunned silent for a few seconds. I got his Paypal account address and will transfer the first 5k to him later today. He mentioned that what was keeping him awake at night was how to provide for his family, with the loss of income. And that's exactly what this fund is for, he's just going to need a touch of a helping hand for a little while here, till he can get back on his feet. He's heartbroken at the loss for his customers.. A 67 GS400 4 speed convert, numbers matching, date code perfect, was sitting in his office, and is a total loss, along with half a dozen other cars in various stages of restoration. He's worried about his family, his employees and his customers.. not once did I hear him complain, or mention the word "me".. that's who Mike is, and I don't know a more fitting person to receive our help. He has the makings of a good rebuild plan, has good friends and family that will help him get back to where he was, and go beyond that I am sure, knowing Mike. He has amazing drive and passion for what he is doing out there. Thanks again to everyone that has help out so far, your contributions mean more to him that you could imagine, it was clearly evident in his voice. JW
I was bidding on one of his ebay items, and he had emailed me yesterday + today. I told him I was a V8 member and sorry for his loss. I didn't mention the fund, I didn't feel it was my place to tell him. I told him I was in no rush for the item, I know he must be busy. He said he'd get it right out for me!
