Just curious if anyone else here enjoys old stereo equipment? I have a small collection of 60's/70's era stuff. I enjoy finding old vinyl records or CDs at yard sales and thrift shops. My main system is a Harman Kardon 730 powering some 10" Coral 5 way speakers. I have it setup in the living room. (yes I'm single). I love the way it sounds. Interesting side note to the speakers. Original owner bought them new in a PX in Vietnam as a soldier in the 60's. Uncle Sam shipped them home with him when he came back to the states. I've got an old 5cd changer hooked up to a system in my garage. I set it to random play and let it mix it's way through them as I work out there.
Kenwood KA-6100 powering Klipsch 1.5's & 4.5's in the basement, a set of Polk Monitor 5B's for the garage setup. Need to get a receiver for the garage. Then I'll run the Sirius/CD's through them. Kyle
Had this Sansui pawn-shop buy as my "system" centerpiece in high-school. I saved it when cleaning out my pop's estate a few years ago, and trashed the remainder of low-buck scrounged uninteresting equipment I had attached to it. I fired it up about a month ago after some cleaning. Still works, but may be ready for a re-cap. It seems like this market has exploded to crazy prices over the last couple of years. Wasn't very long ago none of it was worth more than about $20 at a yard sale.
Old KLH tuner, Technics turntable, 2 Marantz pre amps and 2 Fisher amps powering 2 AR3a and 2 AR2ax speakers. Loud, crisp and clean, just the way I like it. All 60's vintage except for the turntable. Nothing like that warm sound you get from vacuum tubes!
I have 6 or so JVC JR S series receivers..... currently running the 501 in the shop. What a thumper!!
I still have all my equipment I bought in the 80's. JVC receiver, Marantz tower speakers and Infinity bookshelf speakers. Vintage?
Well there you go Joe! I'll take some pics of the speakers as well.... I will say, the shop rocks.... For those not in the know OHC JOE located, packaged and shipped one of my 501's to Washington from So-Cal. I'm forever in his debt..... Well until he donates a certain '70 Bamboo Cream GS to me?
Marantz 2252 bought in 1975 Running Klipsch Reference tower speakers and Klipsch 10" sub. Using a Adcom 300w amp for the power. and man does it smoke!!
i have 2 old cabinet record players. ill have to look at the brands as they in storage. one was my wifes grannys it survived the flood.
Some very cool equipment here guys!! Seems quite a few of you listen at the volume levels I do too. Sweet!!
Mid to late '70's Pioneer, Sansui, Akai, Bose. Been in the family since new and will keep it that way. Can just about heat the room with it! Devon
My parents still have their late 1960s Dual stereo. Original amp and speakers . Five houses and two countries later.
Wow Harold!!. That's the same JVC receiver my brother had, he bought it in the late 70s and it worked very well. I had to clean out my brother's apartment in 1989 when he went missing and the only thing that my buddy wanted for helping was that JVC player. I gave it to him then and my brother resurfaced years later and goes where's my JVC receiver. I go SOL.
Loving my old B & O turntable. I still have my NAD 1155 and 2200 amp but they are in storage… But my Boston Acoustics are sounding great.
I love that JBL ad, and I have the same speakers! L100's, and I see they are selling new retro L100's!!! https://www.crutchfield.com/S-mJ0Ec...6AnLfCKwyunhyCyuOVjrad44T9VqFoJhoCgdYQAvD_BwE Maybe I can get new Quadrex foam if the grill is the same...
