I give myself some "work" during the long cold winter here ! I bought a 70' Buick GSX to replicate my car (68 Buick Skylark) , here is some picture of it (work in progress) if it can give some idea to some of you !
Here's the frame after being painted as well as the rally wheels and front grill which I used a toothpick to paint the black area :Brow:
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Looks familiar:Brow: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31524&highlight=new+gsx
The most dificult is yet to come ..... Since It's a Skylark custom "clone"  I have to do a vinyl top , I use some masking tape and a sharp knife , still have to paint it and add chrome trim . Adam , your GSX is looking great ! have you found a Centurion yet ? For the chrome I bought a spray can , gotta shoot it in a bottle or something in order to use it with a brush .. I was told that was the nearest way to have chrome color , I'll see
Looks great It gets cold here in WV also. Some of our winters are nearly 4 months long, so we have to keep busy also. Here is the first of a few photos of my second hobby. A closet can easily be converted to a hobby center. My wife says i have come out of the modelling closet..... John
Winter sports And...if you look close enough....this has only been in progress for 5 years.....heh heh.....
Forget the silver paint. For a much better look, I recommend Bare Metal Foil for the chrome trim. :TU: http://66.70.211.27/foil.htm
vinyl tops Thank you very much!!! For vinyl tops, i use 3m masking tape. I buy the 3" roll, (lasts for years) then after i apply, (be sure to add all seams in the proper locations) i paint it with satin black paint. Once almost completely dry, you can buff it with a flannel cloth and give it a mild "luster" I use plastic strips, glued into place before any painting, to form vinyl top trim. Then i cover them with "Bare-Metal Foil"
