    Here is what a 3550 lb car---factory suspension locations--- looks like pulling a 1.36 sixty foot on a 9" x 30" radial slick....in test-n-tune conditions.

    The car ran a 10.68 @ 118 mph.

I am "hooked" on these radial slicks, first time out with a pair.

    You all gotta try these!!!:TU:

Dave, way to hang the hoops!! :TU:

What kind of air pressure are you using in those tires and are you using adjustable uppers at a given pinion angle with a anti-roll bar.

I remember a few years ago when you and Bobb Makley put this motor together, looks like you really got it dialed in now.

What seem to be the turning point on the combo to reach your speed and mph!!

Time flies, i was at Finishline in 2000 assembling that motor..started out running 11.20's with 1.55 sixtys.

The car is stiff-full cage-adjustable uppers-(home made) $100.00 used southside lowers-anti roll bar-(from finishline)-ford 9" w/ 3.89 gear- cheap summit 3way adjustable shocks- morosso trick springs fore and aft-th400 JPT trans, with brake, leaving at 3200rpm's.--and a 2" carb spacer with a 950 holly. I feel guilty running that good with all the cheap stuff.......NOT!!

The magic tire pressure is 19.5 to 21.00 lbs anything more or less the car sits and smokes the tires....

Maby i should paint it now.....

    Great job, Dave!!

Don;t feel bad about the cheap stuff,
I;m doing the same thing with garage shelf parts, home made adj. uppers, boxed lowers, old lakewood no-hops, air bags, old 980 holley, non-ported performer intake, 1 in. spacer, 3500 stall, 350 trans, 3:73 12-bolt foot braken it, and old old kenne-bell headers, through 3 in' exhaust to the bumper, and the rear tires are ET streets 2 ply tires 14 psi.

I;m on a slower scale than you, but didn;t expect my cast iron headed motor to run mid-elevens.

Does your motor still have cast iron heads?? :3gears:

Jerrold, still has Stg-1 irons heads, i lapped the valves when i changed the head gaskets..think thats where all the power came from???

Yea, the stall makes a difference for sure i have a 4500 stall, wouldnt want to drive it on the street.....

Bobb, fun is an understatement.....carrying the tires to the 2nd gear shift...never felt that before...she is like a new car again. I heard your new combo could pull mine down the 1320 and still run 8's!!! :TU:

Dave, carrying the hoops in 2nd gear must be a rush!!
The 4500 stall must be the ticket or trans brake or lapping the valves!! LOL!

I know Bobb can work miracles on those cast iron heads, he showed me a few things to do while porting my heads. THANKS Bobb!!

Bobb, hows things going, I wouldn;t have mentioned daves heads if I knew you were gonna post in front of me LOL!, good to see your car running so well.
I like that pro-charger thing thats working out so well!!

Hey Bobb, I seen that Caprice (pro-charger) wagon running at milan heads-up last friday, also very impressive!!

Thats some nice 60fts! You are actually one of the few people I've heard of using a trans brake with the radials and having success. That is great. Gives me some hope that I may eventually get these things to work. The most air pressure I've tried was 19 psi without any luck. Maybe I need to try more air.

Dom, i was serious about 19.5 lbs being the line of smoken-em or hooken em, every car is different, you can go north of 21lbs if needed, i kn0w the tire guy said 16-18 lbs.....but didnt happen with me either till 19.5....good luck with it!!

Way to make that thing hook! I run the same tire and I cant get that thing to stay consistent to save my life. Goes 10.20's @131 with a 1.39 short time IF it hooks. Im switching back to the old MT ET Drag's and see what happens. Maybe I can leave a little harder with those and hopefully be a little more consistent.

I am surprised at how much sidewall wrinkle there is being a radial and that much pressure. That is an awesome 60ft for the ET!! :TU:

Are those the C07 or C06 compound ones?

Denny, CO6 coumpound. On 2 passes i hazed the hides, but that was with 18.5 of cold air pressure.

Joe, they are Hoosiers, and i was checking out Tom Rix's car ,and his dont wrinkle at all, im sure he weighs more than me...next time out i will try 23 lbs.

    Thanks Dave

I just got another set of the radials, these are the C06 compound. The last set were C07 and i ended up getting 100 runs out of them and they still have some wear indicators on them. I am going to try the new ones this weekend and will start around 23 psi and see where they work best for me. These ones feel alot softer than the C07 ones that i had on before that. I just want to make sure i break them in before the bracket final races next week.
