I've got one (minus the studs and gaskets) I'll let you have for 15 bucks shipped.

Sounds good, worth a shot ..I think I could use some threaded rod, or maybe even have some stainless threaded at work..
I assume the mating surfaces are ok , if so I am interested..
    Do Paypal?
    Thanks

The mating surfaces are still like new. I'm sure threaded rods or just some quality grade 8 bolts cut to size would work fine. I'm sure somewhere has studs available too if you really want to go that route. My paypal is theone61636@aol.com.

It is not my intention to hijack the thread, but I saw the discussion about phenolic resin materials and then also that the deal between the parties in this thread is done.

Does the phenolic resin material really work well as an insulation barrier against engine heat transfer?

I am at a decision point in a different project that involves a Carter Thermoquad (with the phenolic resin center section) and while I have always heard negative general things about it (similar to Quadrajets), I don't necessarily beleive the general comments.

The T-Quad came apart fine, no warpage, all appears reusable, etc. So, my decision point is whether to buy a different carb or rebuild the T-quad with the phenolic resin casting.

Yes, and so does the thick factory gaskets. This new fuel evaporates quickly and has a pretty low vapor point, so it helps to keep the carb as cool as possible.

Even so, I consider one of the thick factory gaskets the best option in most cases vs a 1" or thicker spacer. Using a spacer on stock or near stock set-ups can require some cobbling of the linkage, fuel lines, choke parts, etc.

There may a slight performance gain with some set-ups adding a spacer. On my last engine I tested 4 different 1" spacers at the track, back to back runs. 4 hole, fully open, fully divided, semi-open, and no spacer at all.

On a 514hp engine pushing my car to mid 11's at 118mph the quickest run was with no spacer at all. The 4 hole and fully divided were the slowest. The semi-open spacer showed almost 2 more MPH, but still ran .02 seconds slower in ET.

Since I use a factory air cleaner base and Shaker assembly (74 Pontiac GTO), the testing didn't show me anything I wanted to chase around just to fabricate and cobble up the stock set-up.....Cliff
