:idea2: well guys it came out of a mid 70's caprice....and I think it will fit the A body :idea2: :bglasses:
8.5 IS 8.5 NO MATTER WHAT IT CAME out of. 1970 -1987 All 8.5 corperate are identical. all you need to worry about is the series gear your going to use. 2.41 2.56 is 2 series carrier and 2.73 -5.57 are used on the 3 series. Now you can use the 2 series carrier with the spacer t use all the 3 series carriers and as long as you are not in the 11's you will be fine and definitely street bound vehicles will be fine. Good luck. Jim
:Brow: thanks Jim....... I was hoping you would chime in.......:beers2: :TU:  hell.... I might just keep the thing......:idea2: I didn't know you could use a ring gear spacer on these.... do you have a 71 72 housing...o No: o No: o No: also how much to install this posi unit in a housing that already has a 3.73 gear in it.......o No: o No: Pm me you contact info.....
GM 8.5 corporate carriers always interchange with one exception. If it came out of a car with bolt-in axles (some BOP) it will not work in a c-clip application (most GM). I have found that the bolt-in axle 8.5's don't have the spider gears machined for the c-clip recess. Of course, I learned this the hard way....
:idea2: Hi Greg... I decided to keep the posi unit when I found out I could use it.......no sense selling it if I have to buy another one at a later date at double the price.... :bglasses: thanks for inquiring....:TU: :TU: :TU:
