I have a Chevy 12 bolt that came out of a 70 El Camino. It’s needs to be rebuilt.

I am not trying to sell it but rather would like to trade for a 10 bolt for my 72 GS.

If this strikes an interest please let me know.

I am not looking to have a 10 bolt built, just looking for a solid rebuildable core and cannot locate one in Oregon/ Washington.

Pulled an 8.5 inch out of a '71 Cutlass last week, as it was about to be crushed. Bolt in axles. Sat in yard for 8 months. Crazy there's no demand anymore for A body parts.

What you are looking for came in all 71-72 Skylark/GS and all 71-72 Cutlass/442. There were two different castings and two different covers, but both 8.5’s with the same guts.

Did you try "LL Classics" over in Idaho?!? I've never been there, don't know their operation, but just suggesting.

I'm in Utah and I contacted those guys in Idaho about an 8.5 rear. They have them alright, $1,200. Needless to say, I passed on purchasing one.
    Thanks

Why not run the 12 bolt? They are very strong and lots of aftermarket support.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

    Reminds me of Speedway.

Matt, that is a solid question. I disassembled my GS about 20yrs ago and had all NOS parts I collected to put it back together.

Now that I’m finally onto the drivetrain, my wants have changed as I would now like to keep the rear end original to the vehicle as it can. Don’t ask me what I did with the original rear end with posi unit…. It will hurt my feelings.

The Stage 1 455 is being turned into a roller engine with everything purchased from TA. They told me I should be a touch over 500 hp with my build. Everybody tells me the 10 bolt will handle this just fine, and if that is the case, the reason again why am going back to being more original.

In stock form,I’d rather have the 8.5” over the 12-bolt Chevy. With both of the built and upgraded, either one can handle what you throw at it. When I buy my 8.5” cores,I try to get 4-5 at a time. They can all be piled onto a pallet and the shipping isn’t much more. That is the only way to keep things cost-effective for my builds. Ship them in bulk, clean & blast in bulk,powder-coat in bulk, build in bulk. I occasionally have to buy and ship one,so it either has to be priced right,or be a certain one to justify it.
