Is anyone running 10" wheels out back? I have a new set of 295/50/15s and I would rather put them on 10s than 8s. but I want to make sure I buy the correct back space.

I have that combo. You need at least 5.5" backspace. I had a set with 5" of backspace and it was too tight when the suspension compressed.

I run a 325/50R15 tire on a 15x10 wheel. Backspacing is 5-5/8". That centered it in my wheel wells. These cars are not all exactly alike. So your best bet is to put a tire on the car, do some careful measurements, and see where you're at.

Generally, though, 5.5" will put your rim in the center of the wheel well. And with a 295 tire, you'll be fine.

Good info , Great pics. I think you are right, I better measure just to be sure. I was thinking of calling wheel vintique and ask them for any other info. Is that the only place mfg these rallys? I've heard people talk about specialty wheel but their site shows no Buick stuff.

Mcwheels makes Buick custom wheels using stock cores and widens them...

I got mine from Speialty Wheel. They made them very quick and were cheaper than WV. I tried them first and after waiting for 3 months because they said they had no good cores, I went elsewhere. I had even offered to mail them my wheels, which were good, to use as cores. No way!

Just as an FYI or word of warning about Specialty Wheel...I had previously bought several sets of wheels from both Wheel Vintigues and Specialty Wheels. I've learned that you want to spin those things up on a balancer WITH the hub-centric adapter in place to verify that the wheels are true enough to use BEFORE mounting tires since mounting tires will void their return policy. They cannot be properly balanced with the hub centric adapter.
The last set I bought from Specialty Wheels, I went through this process and three of them were unusable. I have always driven any muscle car or hot rod I've owned and just having a shiny wheel isn't the only important thing...I expect them to be round. With this said, I know a lot of people out there have used Specialty Wheels on fully restored cars...but most of these cars are garage queens and how they drive isn't always a priority for folks with basically a full scale diecast car. If you did buy from them, hopefully your wheels were round/not damaged etc.
I contacted S/W and explained the exact weight called for ...over 4.00 ounces on two of the wheels with no tire on them...the other was just under 4 ounces. I also advised about flat spots on the wheels. The wheels were packed in a thin cardboard box and this very well could have happened in shipping. S/W advised that all wheels were checked before being sent etc and that there was no problem with the wheels. I offered to let them speak directly with the tire shop, they declined. I advised that i didn't know if it happened during shipping or what but that three of the wheels were indeed unusable and I needed three useable wheels. They advised if I paid for shipping back and "they determined" that the wheels were within their tolerances, that they would be charging me another 80.00 plus dollars to resend them...and that they were certain that the wheels were going to check out". I sent all four wheels back Fed-X, 88.00, my cost, disputed the charge on my credit card. They received the wheels within a few days but I never heard a word from them until they got the dispute from the credit card. THEN, they called and advised that 2 of the wheels were indeed unusable and a third was borderline but within spec. They wanted to know if I wanted 2 of the original wheels sent back along with two replacements...all at a 3rd shipping cost to me. I was definitely already two shipping costs of both shipping/returning them. Of course, I said no since I sure didn't want to have more in the shipping than I did in the wheels playing their game. All of the money was credited back on my card through the dispute process but didn't include original shipping costs. This was around the time that the owner Tom Sensabaugh passed away, who I used to deal with. Tom was a great guy and if he'd been around, this situation would have been prompty resolved. I ordered another set of wheels from Wheel Vintiques and had no problems. I'm about to have some custom wheels made up for an upcoming early 60's Buick street rod project. I'll be using Stockton or Wheel Vintiques again.

My .02, proceed with caution in dealing with Specialty Wheel...as their policy was "the customer is always wrong".

I ran into the same problems with Wheel Vintiques...no cares/long wait. I too offered to send them good cores...in fact, good driver quality wheels. Their response was no and that they could not guarantee me the same wheels back. I replied that I didn't care if I got the same wheels back...I just wanted a set of wheels...they still wouldn't accept my cores. Crazy way to do business. I ended up putting my order in through Summit Racing for the W/V buick wheels, waited three months...picked them up at the Summit store to save shipping...although i did have to pay state sales tax. They were still cheaper at Summit at the time though.

Who did you get your wheels from? Sounds like the Specialty wheels are good...

I bought my 15X10s from SW. No problems. They ride and look great. I received them quicker than I expected.

The wheels I wasn't happy with came from McWheels. I will call SW i guess. So the concensis is that I should order 5.5 back spacing right?

I have 15x10 in a 5.5 bacspace and that worked well for me.... I used a 285/70/15 that is 30.6" tall and they fit great.

To get WIDE 325/50/15 tires in the wheel well then 5-5/8" is required.

Keep in mind that each car is a BIT different, is your car a 70-72 Skylark?

It is best to mock up an old wheel and do some measurements before you order anything.

I made myself the guinne pig for the board some years back with these rims and wide tires. I actually went through three different sets of rims with varying backspacing before settling on the 5-5/8" for my car. It just happens that amount is perfect for my car. But it was slightly off for others.

That's why if you don't measure and want a 325 tire, you may want to get 5-3/4" backspacing. Then you can always shim them up to 1/4" to get them just right. And it does have to be just right with that size tire.

With a 295 tire, you'll be over an inch narrower, so if you get 5.5" backspacing, you'll be fine inside and out in the wheel well. Good luck.

    Yes I have a 70 lark.
I did read some of your old posts on this topic and saw the pics that you posted... Sweet! I just couldn't find the final answer of weather it worked or not... I think I will measur just to be safe.
Thanks for all the help guys the amount of info on this site is a bit overwelming. I should take a week off work just to read.
