Here is another new product we are expecting in soon, 18" arm rest backing plates. We want to make sure what year Skylarks these fit, we believe it be 68-70? Please let us know. We will post pricing as soon as our shipment is finalized. Thanks
Shane the years are correct but the real answer is interior dependent and somewhat model dependent. In general they came in GS and Skylark Customs for those years but not always.
Lines Question: Should there be lines on the backing plates by the hole that the door handle comes through? Some of the used ones we have come across do and some don't. Can anyone shed some light on this? o No:
Shane Subject to the comments from the many great minds here I would say something like "These backing plates fit 68-70 Buick A bodies equipped with the Delux interior. In general, this includes Gran Sport and Skylark Custom models."
? It also seems like they could be used on a Cutlass also, this wouldn't be strange as GM like to share parts between makes... Anybody know what else this may work on.
Jim, am I missing something here? These don't look like the backing plates on my 68. Shouldn't they have the "ribbed" section that extends forward from the edge of the armrest base, behind the door handle? I'm confused...
Ok, just measured mine, and they are almost 22" in length, with the ribbed section at the front. I don't believe the ones pictured here are 68-70. Someone tell me if I'm in a daze or what...
they fit the 69 and maybe 70 but not 68 as pictured. I would take at-least 2 pair when they become available Rick
Here's what's on my 68 GS, though they could have come from a 69 Skylark Custom donor car, I don't know for sure.
Those are correct for the 68 gs. I have a pair of 68 backing plates that do not fit my 69 nor are they correct for a 69. Rick
Also the '68 Skylark models, I have a pair of '68 lark door panels and they are the same backing plates as my GS (just as David posted). :beer
Those fit all 69-70 GS's and 2 door Skylarks with the custom deluxe interior. They also fit a number of the B body coupes in those years. Specifically, I have removed them in the past from Wildcat coupes/convertibles, I imagine the lesabre/electra series 2 door coupes of that vintage would use the same backing plate. Or to put it another way, it fits all cars with the long armrests, except the 68's. JW
