WOW! That is like a twin to the 58 Buick we owned! Well except for the snake on his fender, yeh and the roll bar,of course no side pipes on ours, annnnnd the Ford engine but I think the headlights are reeeeeeal close.Yep dead ringer for ours
1958 BUCK 1 OF 1. BUILD STARTED IN 1956 , FULL TUBULAR FRAME AND METAL BODY BOTH HAND MADE. MOTOR WAS UP GRADED IN 1970 TO A 428 SHELBY ENGINE AND A TOP LOADER 4SPD. ALSO HAS HAND BUILT REAR WITH INBOARD DRUM BRAKES. CAR WEIGHT IS 2550 LBS. HAS GREAT HISTORY.
Wow, I bet that thing is a handful. I'm sure he meant "Buck", as in deer....It may just be the angle the pic is taken at, but I'm having a little trouble understanding the engineering on the rear suspension and drive......
That's the one of one optional Death Trap suspension,Lucas. Either that or he was following a plumbing supply truck to close that dropped a load of pipe! Major Funkola!
I'm not seeing how the thing moves....The tube connecting the leaf springs together appears to be centered in the wheels. The diff is in front of that, and I think I see stub shafts with u-joints on the driver's side, but they look like they're in front of the wheel centerline. Also, whats holding the shocks/mounts to the springs? Looks like the cross bar connecting the leaf springs would just bottom out and make a real nice clanging noise from contacting the frame when the suspension is topped out like it is in the pic.
Yep probably lose a few fillings driving that....that.....Creation? In the wise words of my beautiful wife "There is probably A REASON it's RARE or one of one!"
The only Buick part I'm seeing on that thing are the headlight bezels. There's some 1960 Buick out there that's missing a set. Otherwise, this is one for the books, and the book should be closed on this, as in slammed shut, squashed. Part it out, I'm sure whatever this thing consisted of would be happy to get it's missing parts back.
