    Hey all,

I need to order a carburetor kit for my 1958 Rochester 4-barrel. It seems like there are two different kits available: 1958 early and 1958 late. How can I distinguish between them? Unfortunately, the carburetor tag is missing.
Would the VIN number give a clue if it is an early or late engine (VIN and motor number match)? The last 6 digits of my VIN are 018911. Any help is appreciated.

    Chris

    Chris,
Isn't there a Body Number Plate located at the firewall ?
    (But I don't think a 1958 BNP includes the week/month code ??)

Maybe this scan will help to find out if your car is an early or late production model.
Too bad that you didn't post the 3rd digit of the VIN.

    Hello Bad Boattail,

Thank you for the information. I think that narrows my car down to a late 58 model. It was built in Arlington, Texas and my VIN number puts it towards the end of the production run (only 599 more cars were built after mine - at least in Arlington).

    Again thanks,
    Chris
