I got my project car (64 special deluxe 2 door) without any interior and no side mirror
The holes in the door for mounting the mirror were filled in with putty. When I look at picks of other cars i notice sone are at rhe extreme front of the door while others have it behind the vent window. Just curious was this a skylark vs. Special issue or maybe remote mirror vs. Manual mirror?

I have a manual mirror on my 64 and the mirror is foward and I believe there is a piece of metal support inside the door if you look up inside without the door panel. I also have a remote NOS mirror and the template has it up front.

Great info Ed, thanks for that. Yeah, I'll be able to take a closer look at that area of the door from the inside when I re-glue my side glass. I'm in the process of taking out the glass (I think my quarter glass frame might need to be pryed out with the help of a screwdriver or something because I have all the fasteners out but it still won't budge).

If your talking about the the quarter glass rubber channel. The channel has has clips attached to the rubber on the iedge that faces the body. They are crimped on the channel and will get ripped off if you pry to hard. They are round and and there is a round hole on the body side in the window frame. I would work from the rear bottom up and around if possible. I ripped a couple of mine apart. After you destroy your first one you'll see how they are in there.

Thanks Brian. Sorry I said quarter glass but I meant the pivot-out vent window frame at the front of the door. If you are referring to the vent window, then I will have a look at mine to see if I can see those crimped clips. Those clips go thru the main windo frame of the door I presume? Conversely, on this link, it looks like the vent window from just pops out once you have the screws out for the vent window frame, and installation is just popping it back in, then install the screws:
