Unfortunately, I'm not technically skilled enough to share the link. But here's the picture of the video. Maybe one of you guys can share the link?
...sure likes to ramble on. Yes, '63 was last year for Dynaflow. Love '64 look, especially Wildcat convertible. On my top 10 Buick list. Dealership got exactly 1 special order 4-speed, that color (IIRC was called Marlin Blue) with white interior to go with white top. Always been fond of Buick's green engines (grew up with them), but wish restorer hadn't painted accessory brackets green also...
He does like to ramble, that's one of his things that some people like. I'm just thankful he did another Buick. He's done a '65 Riviera too. Due to outrage in the comments, he had to redo a portion of the video because he failed to open up the headlights.
Man, I found a really loaded out '64 Wildcat convertible for sale in Decatur,Ga for $2500 last year , my dream car since I was a kid , and got it for $1800. It's a project but well worth redoing. It sat for 30 years. I got the 425 running and now it sounds really good. Who ever bought 58 years ago checked off everything on the option sheet.
He is a chatter box isn't he! I see they still have the P N D etc. selector on the dash still, while the console and it's markings are there. Unlike the blacked out dash area on the 65 to 67 GS's with the consoles. Could it be because so few Wildcats had the console and just wasn't worth removing the dash selector? Question, this is a TH400 car which only shows P R N D L on the shift lever. I thought a TH400 was basicly the same as a ST400? a 3 speed but no Switch/Pitch converter? Way back in the day I bought a 66 425 Riv motor with the tranny from a junkyard. I believed it was replaced with a TH400 at some point because the tranny kickdown switch only had the 1 prong. Manually clicking the selector switch on the side of the tranny I had the 6 settings from Park to L1. I'm a bit confused now?
The 1964 ST400 trans was a really odd duck. Non-variable pitch and PRNDL even though technically it was a three speed trans. Here's part of a writeup from https://www.nailheadbuick.com/transmission-options-for-the-nailhe: Devon
Wow thats alot to sink in. I guess after driving a while it would be come easy but the sudden downshift in a bad area is scary. Wondering just how many people didn't know just how much more performance their cars had?? So the weld was on the shifter mechanism?
I'm guessing the shift lever on the left side of the trans. Sounds like the lever & shaft going into the case may have been welded together instead of bolted in later years. Haven't personally seen a '64, so not sure. Devon
It was so long ago in the mid 80's.. Like I had posted I can remember the 6 positions of clicking on the lever on the side of the trans. Other than no switch pitch action i'm guessing the 66 Riv shifter worked on this 64 TH400?
