I have a complete, running 401 with the ST 300 transmission that was originally behind it that was removed from a 1965 Skylark GS. This is an LR-coded block that has the matching Vin number stamped on it from the car. The Vin plate from the car will come with this engine and transmission. I do not have the title.

The engine is complete from the breather to the oil pan and will include all of the front drive accessories and associated brackets. It also has both exhaust manifolds and will come with the complete motor mount arrangement from the Skylark, including the frame mounts.

I am not the most knowledgeable Buick historian, however I feel like this is Probably a pretty rare find.

The car that this engine was in previously is in very, very poor condition and is not worthy of salvage. It spent approximately 36 years parked in a junkyard here in South Carolina.

I am not sure that the carburetor that is on it currently is original, but I was able to clean it up enough to get it working. The starter appears to have been brand new, 36 years ago. I disassembled it and serviced it, and it works perfect. Too many more details to discuss. If you are interested, please respond to the thread or send me a PM with your phone number and I will call you.

The engine is currently located in Clover, SC. I am willing to ship it on your dime if you make all of the arrangements.

    Asking $3,500

You were able to start this engine after it sat for 36 years???? Bew sure to get the engine frame mounts out of the car before it gets junked.

I did my due diligence before I attempted to start it. That included removing the oil pan and making sure there was no sludge in the sump that was going to block the oil pump pick up. I lubricated the upper cylinders and made sure all of the valves would move and lubricated all of the valvestems, etc. Once I got ready to start it, it didn’t take long at all before it busted right off.

And yes, I did get the mounts off of the frame. I actually salvaged the frame because it is a box frame and the frame is in good shape. I’ve already restored the chassis and it’s going to go underneath of My 64.
