pure novice here - trying to figure out the wiring pattern for the brake lights and tail lights on a 1965 buick skylark. I see there is one long wire with wiring coming out of it for each light (6 in total) I have read that the brake lights get grounded by the green wires - there are two greens - what is the wiring sequence? someone said that one green wire goes into the light bulb and the other one stays out connected to nothing - if that is the case which other wire gets connected to the wires on the main wire line - the white one or the black one?

Totally lost here so if anyone has any help that would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

I mean this in the kindest way.
Get the shop manual for the 64/65 Special/Skylark.

Below is the wiring for the 65 Special/Skylark. (The GS has different front harnesses due to the nailhead)

    It is pretty straight forward.

Basically all lights have power, controlled by switches open or closed, the body/bumpers are the common ground for the light sockets. (Good grounds are a must)

Open link, then right click and download. They should open in higher resolution.

As Michael pointed out, you need a 1965 Buick Service Manual or the very least, a wiring diagram.
For the rear wiring, there are brown, dark green, yellow and light green wires.
The brown wire is your running lights. Also called tail lights by some.
The yellow wire, if memory serves me right, is the left side brake and turn signal.
The dark green wire is the right side brake and turn signal.
The light green wire is for the reverse lights.
As for white and black wires, unless you are referring to replacement bulb sockets, white and black wires weren't originally used by Buick
I would suggest you consider a replacement harness from either M&H Electric or Lectric Limited. They would be a simple plug and play option for you.
