Ok guys...HERE'S THE LATEST: Because I am a stand up Buick guy, I have to continue to give you the details you expect from me. I've had quite a few very good, solid inquiries. A few of you have asked for details about any rust issues? Well,...I have basically spent the last two weekends cleaning interior, polishing chrome, endless applications of pure elbow-grease to make this car look as good as it does...and I honestly and truly wish I would have done this earlier, but today, this old guy finally got down on the ground, on my back and looked up at the underside. Yes, there is some rust. I was told by the owner, apparently a fello who worked on his car whenever business was slow, lifted the car using the "rockers" as a lift point instead of the chassis! :Dou: and double :Dou: :Dou: ..anyway, this stupid decision crushed the rockers. SO what'd the fello do to hide his booboos?? He filled in the crushed areas with bondo obviously using his hands as applicators! yea, more :Dou: ( I say "take away his beer and flush his bag of columbian grass :Brow: !!!" ) Anyway, I assume this began the rust issues in the rockers. Crushed from lifting. Filled with Bondo.:spank: So, that being said, today, as I peeled away some of what I "initially thought" was heavy undercoating, was actually bondo. This is still a very sound car and is a complete, numbers matching 425 2x4, clean, nice looking and loaded 1965 Riviera Gran Sport ... but yes, it has some rust issues that would probably be ok left alone, but if it were mine, as a bodyman, I would replace these uglee looking rockers and braces. Just giving you my honest-to-goodness heads-up .02CW. BRING ON THE OFFERS!! Wheelz, Tampa Bay

I love the car. Can't believe anyone would lift it that way though. I suppose the only way to repair them is with rockers from a donor car though.:ball: Are 63 and 64 rockers the same?

Wheelz, if there wan't $1000 or more in shipping I would save this thing.

I love the 65 Rivs. They are a piece of Buick that no other division had anything like. Even a Chevy guy has to give the thumbs up on one of these.

I will keep watching this thread. I don't want to say I am in line because there are so many people already drooling over a real GS Riv.

ThanX Matt! Yes, someone will get a nice, NOT PERFECT, but nice 65 GS Rivi....and you are right, there are quite a few interested parties but whut-the-heck..make the seller an offer! BTW I copy and forward the seller all inquirys and replys so he knows what kind of feedback we are dealing with..NO SURPRISES that way, right? In the beginning he told me he would take NO LESS THAN 10K for this car...doontcha-know his thinking has come around a bit more reasonably now. :Brow: Wheelz, Tampa bay

Jamie..I may be mistaken but I dont "believe" there is a problem with making offers via PM as long as they put themselves IN LINE on this thread before doing so..THAT being said, I now have a few offers for the owner to consider. THANX guys! I'll keep you posted! Wheelz, Tampa Bay

Nice to see as good of an evaluation and inspection of the car as it looks like you've done. If it were doable, I would still want the car. Nothing like a 65 Riviera in my book, and a 65 GS is about as cool as it gets! Well worth the work it needs to me.
Don't know what it is about 1965, bit it's my favorite Skylark and Riviera body style. Way cool cars.
Another one that I would add on to the garage in a heart beat for if I could manage to get one.
As for the rust, it doesn't look that bad to me. Everything is rusted on the coast and that looks like a pretty easy fix even if you may have to be wait a while to find the patch panels, or hire someone lots better than me to fab the patch.
Shame that some knot head did that to the car though.

This is 1 of 3354. not ultra rare but you just dont see these for sale on v8buick very often. Let alone one where youre getting a honest description.

Be careful with this bidding scenario. I would hate to see this get ugly with someone feeling they were somehow done wrong.

Wouldnt the other for sale section here that allows bidding maybe be more approiate now?

GOOD POINT Greg! ThanQ both, (Greg and Jamie) for bringing this into proper perspective. ALL offers need to be posted in this thread. I have once again, discussed offers with the owner. He insists on holding out for closer offers to the asking price. and I HAVE TO oblige...after all, its his car. :TU: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

Iam going to have to drop out on this car. I have had some money issues pop up that were not for seen. I love this year of Rivi, and would love too add this car to my collection. Just not to be at this time.

I think the car is well worth the price, I just don't have the cash right now.
Tough times to sell bigger ticket toys right now. Lots of people out of work, lots of others worried. It will sell, all you have to do is lower your expectation of what you can get do to the economy, or (better idea) give it a little time.
Nice car, one of the best of the Buick's in my humble opinion, and a fair priced example of one.

WOW THANX for that link 69SkyinNJ! http://www.ownster.com/index.cfm?type=Car&makemodel=100|113&orderby=&year1=1965 ...THAT must be where the owner is getting his 10K price idea from. As I mentioned, he was flabber-gasted and tickedoff that I posted the car for just $7400. He is adament about holding off till higher offers come in. AND NOW...he tells me to consider listing it on ebay. He is a tough old coot but it IS HIS CAR and he can run me thru the ringers till I sell it as I promised I would do to help him out. SO My hands a tied on this deal guys. I may have to delete this thread. What have I gotten into here...? What do "they say" about nice guys finishing last??? well I'm feelin' it...big time, ooohyeaah. :( Wheelz, Tampa Bay

Oh yea. I wasnt ready to post this yet...or perhaps in another thread...but I should mention, I am trying to convince the owner to THROW INTO the equasion, his OTHER 65 Riviera GS...disassembled, semi complete but SOLID SOLID car he tells me. I shot a few pix of it while I was there last month preparing the Black Rivi for transport....take a quick look..its not carved in stone yet but this may sweeten the BLACK 65 GS Riviera deal IF I can catch him in the right mood. STAY TUNED: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

FYI...re; Post #3, Flint67GS, Mike has expressed the first genuine interest and he holds the highest offer of $7K. The owner still hasnt accepted that offer. He is most certainly dragging his feet and wants me to look into other options as I posted previously. I think I've gotten in over my head with this guy but I will NOT QUIT and, I will continue to keep this thread honest and open as best I can. Thanx for understanding. Wheelz, Tampa Bay
