That's Cool!! To me any car can be redone... Just depends how much money you have..These people that tell you "I wouldn't spend money on that POS" just don't understand and will never understand..This is what seperates the "Rare from the Rotten".. Great Find!!! Keep this threat going and GET TO WORK!! :beer :TU: :3gears: Randy

Right now this is the only picture I have of my four speed 68.
Suposed to get a digital camera for Christmas. Then I can take some pics.
My car is 90% complete parts wise, just need to clear out some space in the garage and take care of a few debts. Then I can start on the resto.

    George,

I would mask off the "SPEC" mark when repainting the car if you are doing it in the same color.... Just a cool part of the car history that could be saved and not just duplicated over new paint...

Already discussed with my painter :TU: . It has the 'SPEC' on both sides. He said there is a way to clear coat over it. Not to mention, I would like to keep the original paint somewhere on the car...
Question: I know the 70-72 inner fenders have part #'s stamped on them, what about the 68-69's?

I have to make it look real so why not  I still have to bolt (glue) the whole thing together, so the bumper was just pushed in place..

    More Pic's

George I got your PM and I couldn't find a copy of the POBF sheet but I will post it soon. Hope you can make out the BSI sheet if you want a bigger file I can email it to you. I rolled off the car cover and took some pics today. The paint is original and it had a black vinyl top. The steering column in the car is from another car but I have all the original parts except the heads, cam, crank, carb and distributor. It has tilt wheel and the map light under the rear view mirror, non-AC car. If I hadn't started with the Skyhawks this car might be..... You guys know the story.

Harry I think the more space you have the more stuff goes in! Thanks, Brian

Now THAT is an interesting color combo  .... Nice options... Pearl, tilt, what else?
The distributor and carb are going to be EXPENSIVE pieces when you go looking.....Otherwise, very NICE car!!!

I've got a spare 69 stage distributor or two in the garage, by the way. :Brow:

It is hard to see the BSI very well but it does have the consolett with the tach. The spare tire was a redline but I don't know if that was original. I should know more about the car but I don't. I wish the POBF sheet on top of the gas tank would of been the correct one for it. I guess that was common. What won't be expensive for it? I did see you can buy a replacement 69 GS grill for over $600.00. I'll do what I can and if it's just a numbers thing maybe I'll let the next owner sweat those details.

I can watch as you guys make progress to help motivate me. Years ago I saw a car just like Chris's to the exact condition his is in now. Who doesn't have a few Buick stories? If I can just get my wife that finished basement and deck and .... :) Someday! Brian

Brian - do you by any chance have the ProtectO Plate ??

Im curious if it is stamped RS for the engine code as we've seen some that are not stamped at all and also some not stamped correctly

    TIME TO GET MOTIVATED !!!

I just asked Mike Atwood if he could change the title of this thread to '1968-1969 GS 4 speed restorations'.... It would be a good place to ask one another questions, ideas, project updates, etc. We're all pretty much in the same boat so let's try and help one another :TU: :TU:
