    I may have the 3.64 ring gear. The 3.64 pinion gear is fractured.

    Price = 250.00 plus shipping
    Location = NC/Mn

    I am not qualified to rate its condition. It was in our GSX until the pinion fractured.

    I will try to get a picture.

    Sorry guys... my fault,

    As Jim stated, it was out of his 49K mile GSX..

    I had two of them on the shelf, I thought the one with the gear on it was Jim's but it turned out that one had a 2.93 ring gear on it.

    Jim's had been moved into storage, so I was able to retrieve that yesterday, and here are the pics.. the 3.64 ring gear is gone.

    It's the 4 pinion unit.

    Jim Weise,

    Do you know the condition of the 4 series posi.... does it need to be rebuilt or can it be installed and run as is?

    Also, what is the condition of the 3 series posi with the 2.93 ring/pinion.... is it for sale as well and does it need to be rebuilt or can it be installed and run as is?

    Interested.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

    Chuck,

    I do not know the conditon of the cones in the posi unit, I can only tell you that you cannot spin one axle by itself, which is typically the "quick check" of a limited slip type differential.

    The other case is for one of my cars, and is not for sale.

    Thanks

    JW

    Pardon the dumb question but will this work in a 65 8.2 rear end? I am a converted Chevy guy and these early BOP rears can be confusing at first.

    Buick 1968-70 8.2 gears are not the same as BOP 8.2 gears. The later are remade aftermarket. For the former, one Board member had a limited run made of the 3.42 ratio. There was talk about making a run of 3.64 gears but they are not identical to the original Buick 3.64s.

    The carriers have a special asymmetrical bearing set up. I think this may be unique to 1968-70 Buicks.

    Hi Jim, did you find an extra 3.64 ring and pinion? I forgot that when we switched for the 3.23's
    Thanks,
    Ted

    My understanding is that those gears will not fit the OEM carrier.

    Bump

    I noticed that Monaz says he can now machine his reproduction 3.64 gear sets to fit this OEM carrier.
