    Guys,
Does the pull strap on the inside of the door panel come as a seperate part or do you have to find and buy the entire door panel. My driver's side door pull strap is broken and I would love to replace it. Black interior. If you guys know where I could find one I would be mighty thankful!

    Thanks,

The door pull strap is seperate from the door panel - there are 3 different '68 door pull versions. I believe you have the early type, but can't quite make it out from your photo. :TU:

I might have an extra but its green. It would have to be dyed

Mine is different from the one in your pic. As Randy said they are separate from the rest of the panel and you have to remove it to get the panel off. This is a pic of my int. you can see the passenger side door pull.

    Jason,

How do you remove the door strap? How much for the green one that you have? I have never dyed anything, is it hard to do?

    Thanks,

    Eric

I looked a little closer and I believe you right, its the early type. I have extra of the one Briz has with the escutcheon plates. Sorry!

As fas as removing the one you have, Ive never had that type so Im not 100% sure.

On mine the Silver plates on the ends of the strap slide off clips away from the strap. Then there is 2 screws behind each plate. Take the bigger of the 2 out and the strap comes off. the smaller screw holds the strap to the clip. get me a better picture of yours and I can probably tell you how to get it off.

Thanks Briz! Picture is below. The pic shows my passenger side door pull which is in good shape. The driver side pull is broken. Thanks for any help. I appreciate it.

Look up under the pull where it mounts to the door. you might find recessed screw holes with Philip's head screws up in there. If not that then the chrome trim pieces might slide back or off to revile the screws. They are screwed into the body of the door not just the panel.

Found the screws that unbolt the strap from the door. Now back to the original problem. Do any of you know where to get a replacement door pull strap? JC Whitney has something but it doesn't look the same. Is there a company that makes these things for restorations? Or am I going to have to try to find one of these on a junker somewhere?

    Thanks guys!

Repros are 'unobtanium' Eric, so your best bet is 'good used' if you can find them !! :TU:

Checked, It has both pulls and they look to be good. Do you need just one. I would say they are a beige color.

    Fred,

I sent you a PM. Can you send me a picture of the door pull that you have? Still looking for one that matches the design I have.

    Thanks,

    Eric

    Fred,

Thanks for looking but I am afraid that it is slightly different. The one that you have is about 1 inch shorter in length and also doesn't have the chrome bevels at the base of each end of the strap. I found one like yours and tried it already and it just didn't fit. Thanks so much for looking though. See the pic attached and you can maybe pick up on the chrome thingies at the base of my strap. Thanks again though!

Anybody else out there maybe have this pull strap?

    Thanks!
