Hey you guys I am Desperately looking for a wrecking yard in Southern California to chop of a roof to replace the cancerous one on mine can anyone send me some info on any of these places where i can come out and cut one or know of a donor car?? Other parts I am looking for is: A Windage Plate for a 455 motor(a real need since i am in a middle of a rebuild) Passenger side Engine mount 1969 Buick Grill(not really looking for this now) Really need to find that ROOF!!!..please Thanks you guys for anyone who replies!!
Make that '66-'69 Erik, the '70 roof is much wider at the rear, and extends to the outer edges of the rear fenders to accommodate the larger rear window glass. :TU:
From Sacramento to Southern California isn't really that far. A chance to go on a nice road trip along the PCH to Frisco, how much better can a hobby get? And fuel is amazingly cheap in North America, so you can't use that as an excuse :Smarty: Some board members are shipping complete cars or parts from LA to Europe or Australia. They have to pay shipping costs and import tax on top of the purchase price, they don't complain :bglasses: But Phoenix, AZ is a little bit closer to Rancho Cucamomg, CA. You could try Jerry Hammer at GM Obsolete: Click here :Comp: Or Speedway Automotive: 602-276-0090 Or Desert Valley Auto Parts: Click here :Comp:
Well I understand getting parts takes a few hundred miles but to go all the way up to Sacramento and cut a roof of sounds like a real job if i have to bring my mobile mechanics tool truck up there unless these roofs are already off. then i guess the next question is it really worth to fix up the rust on a cars roof or just better to get a better body and use the one i have currently like a parts car? I guess I just want to get the roof as cost efficiently as possible because if a dump a lot of money on this roof project i can get another riviera for a fair amount =P Gas is cheap but not when it comes to a 3/4 ton chevy c20 haha  I have no problem going to Arizona! thanks for the names!
There was this scrap yard in the greater LA area, I bought stuff from them in the late 90's. Their name was (is?) Dream Cars, the friendly woman at the office was named Tricia. Maybe another board member will chime in to tell if they are still in business :TU:
These cars are not expensive. Unless you are really attached to this particular car, I would at least investigate the economics of finding another one and selling what you have.
Thanks you guys! If anyone viewing this has more links to places let me know to help further my decision on the car! However if anyone has the engine mount and windage plate for a 455 motor message me, thanks!
